a always have trouble with the new flash tutorials. even though i’ve got a cable connection and a loaded new mac the audio stutters and shakes. I have no trouble with other high data rate downloads from other sites. I don’t think it’s a download speed issue. I think there’s a problem with however the video is encoded in flash. There are some other sites i routinely visit with flash tuts that are older and play fine.

I usually resort to the podcast versions. safari or opera or even ie for mac, still same trouble. my pc is old so ive never tried but i much prefer the older way of doing the video tuts in QT.

looks to me like a rehash of George Polevoy’s flowing text tutorial with something as simple as scaterize applied to the flowing text. then particular’s 3d stroke and shine. George’s tutorial was for AE 4.1 and the created date on the file in the tutorial is Mar 5, 2001. I just did this tutorial this week end looking through the tutorial archives. still works in 7. thought it was funny that I just did the tut, then you posted a link to almost exactly the same basic effect. I guess there’s not much that’s really new.

    the tutorial is here

fastest photo montage I know if is I-Photo on a mac. Can’t beat it for fast and cheap, and you can customize every transition and every Ken Burns effect if you want to. I don’t do any quick photo montages in AE any more. I still do the good and expensive ones there though.

  • i’m getting stuttering audio and lagging video with this tut on a new mac with 3 gig ram unless I close all other browser windows. overhead is way high on this tut. looked for it as a podcast but no joy there. finally got through it but much prefer the old way of doing things

I don’t do anything that requires compositing or color grading in anything less than 32 bit. imho everything just works better unless you need a specific plugin that only use lower bit depth

Try changing the Z orientation then rotate on X and it will work. it would be nice if there was a way to change the render order like you can do in card dance so Z would render before X but as it is the order is orientation, x, y, then z. that’s why you have to use orientation
