[Michael Klaumann] “Since the Multibridge Extreme is no longer made/supported, any chance it will work with the upcoming Avid 6 release? Will the drivers for the Pro and Eclipse models work with the Extreme?”

Not only does it work, it works BETTER than it did with FCP – so go get it!!!

Yes I had a little giggle seeing everyone rush off to PRem Pro, and having come from that to FCP I didn’t want to go back to that nightmare.
I researched and saw what was on the horizon with Avid and I KNOW they keep their promoses; seeing as they ONLY deal in post production solutions.
We have 5 FCP bays and one PC Prem Pro bay; all with Blackmagic Multibridges. Over the next few months they are ALL going Avid MC6.
One Mac is already up and running and what a pleasure it is.
My clients are saying “Avid? … really, … wow thats a big step forward!” But in reality, the pricepoint is pretty much the same isn’t it? Just a ‘better’ name.
I see in six months most of the FCP > PPro convertee’s will go > Avid.
So now what really is the future for FCP X

So Peter – when do I have to prove ownership of FCP????? (not that it is a problem).

    [Peter Corbett] “with free delivery”

Shipping to Australia is not free – $88.95

So if the shipping value does not include the shipping costs I will not have to pay duty. So lets hope they don’t stuff it up!

BUT I HAVE A QUESTION…. I have ordered mine also from Amazon/Adorama and they never asked for FCP serials or proof of owning FCP. Where’s the catch?

  • [Michael Hancock] “The only difference here is that you had unauthorized access to information that is otherwise under NDA because Avid made a mistake.”

Have I missed something here? Where was he ‘unauthorised’ in accessing an on line web site?

My take on Avid taking it down was they noticed some errors and had to re-work it . . . . maybe?!?

Get your installers to put a SDI tester on the cables and see if you are getting crc errors.

We only use double braided shield cables and the cable you mention is single braid + foil.

    Yes, very sad indeed.

The very first editing system I designed and built was in 1979 using an Apple II computer.

[John Gramaglia] ” the white titles over black at the opening of the piece are buzzing slightly. Is there a work around for that?”

That is a function of the frame blending. I always do a textless conversion and then re-add the titles. A pain in the A?!@%!!!
