Thanks for the feedback ,I have denied the latest version at a friends studio who has magix with latest 211 build and pro res 4K struggles 10 frames out 24 ..while resolve and hit film play and edit almost real time 24 frames with. I issues the same files .. hope it get to that level with magix as I still have not upgraded from Sony Vegas , once that is ironed out it’s no brainer for me

I know we can’t predict the future .. but will magix gradually improve the gpu ability to deal with pro res on time line ,lots of cameras are offering pro res now. And I know of and pro res don’t mix.. but resolve ,hitfilms ,all deal with pro res with smooth playback for 4K files ,same files struggle in magic time line ..when that happenes it will be amazing as Vegas is one of the most daw like editing software and I love it for that (as an Audio guy)

John ,as of this day ,what would be the best gpu to buy for magicx 14 ,mainly for timeline 4K playback performance ,my main issue is lagging playback and having the ability to utilize the gpu (or as much as Vegas allows with its best supported card to date. ) ..rendering time is not important as I have lots of cores (32) on my system and lots of ram 96 .even with those timeline lags with pro res 4K files (hd or 2k not so much) .

Thats nice… hope to get to that level of smooth editing and playback as in resolve in future vegas pro , vegas 14 really didn’t make a difference in editing pro res for my system (tested it while in trial run) compared to vegas 12 and 13 ..the question is will vegas get to that level with regards to pro res in future releases …

By the way, going to the idea of pro res and windows dont mix, for fun i downloaded the free version of resolve 12 , and dropped same pro res 4k clips that vegas pro is having a hard time with , and they played real smooth, full 24fps , and no drops…so , not sure what to think here

So true, really Pro res is hard to work with on windows, esp 4k pro res hq and 422.. hd pro res was ok to work with in vegas pro, but now i have a film we shot in 4k pro res from fs700 and with 16 cores and 24gb ram i only can see 8-10fps while editing at best, what would you guys think I should do here, (for next time I know not to film pro res 4k for windows) but its a 15 min short and it looks like is gonna be a headache to edit as is (almost 1 tb of footage), any tips ?

Now I think vegas 14 is not liking my ur44 audio interface for some reason, where 13 didnt have an issue with it.. as soon as i go to audio tab (which was set to windows default sound) and switch to interface audio would not work nor video … not sure whats going on .. if i return to windows default sound we go back to having the problem of delayed playback and siund playing for few seconds and stopping..thats with pro res 422 file, mts,mp4 files…the only file that plays without delay and sound play normal is MOV .

Steve. anything from older panasonic gh1 files, to sony fs700 files (usually very smooth) to , new prores ursa 4.6k 422 files, all give me this issue, i have a feeling its an audio issue , not a video file issue, one thing i didnt mention is that im an audio guy also so i have an audio interface UR44 , let me check on things…as im noticing audio is getting cut off and wont play anymore after video starts (audio will play for like 1-2 seconds)
