Basically the same computer same, the same video clips (different ones, from ursa mini pro res to gh1 to fs700 files) from the same drive, on Vegas pro 13 as soon as i hit space bar or play the time line plays, on 14 i hit space bar or play it takes close to 2 seconds to play, One thing I did notice that, it seems to play smoother with heavy duty plugins that were giving me issues and low fps playback , not its almost 2-3x the fps playback

So on my old i7 920 system I tried the new gtx1060 card that a friend of mine just ordered and it made things worse with Vegas pro 13 (compared to r9 270 I had in it ) ,not sure if nvidia support will be better with the new 14 or it’s just because the Gtx 1060 is brand new (open cl enabled ) caused Vegas to crash everytime ..maybe Gtx cards are not a good combo wit Vegas ,not sure if this trend will continue with the new Vegas pro 14 or not

The number one reason I use Vegas for editing because of its daw like workflow ,as an audio guy to start I love how Sony workflow to video tracks is very similar to audio daw editing and would love that to stay ,things over the years that needed to be added and wish to be added real soon are
1- being able to use gpu and effectively , I think Sony might be the worst at this ,I really didn’t see much of performance advantage to using newer and more expensive cards
2- add Lut’s nativaly ,with good preview performance (not need to use magic bullet which is slow with Vegas)
3- some kind of ability to track areas and points nativaly (with good performance) and being able to add effects to the tracked area or point
4- Color selectivity (like resolve ) with also being able to add effects to selection
5- highlight ,mid tone , and shadows tools (resolve like) with being able to change saturation levels
6-master session clip property session ,being able to import a track and track automatically changes to the specified properties with out needing to go to track properties and changing every time
7-3D tracking would be amazing (rather than regular basic tracking I asked for in number 3)
8- ability to import raw (blackmagic cameras) and prores with God performance
9-ability to zoom in and out on preview window
10- ability to use Arabic fonts and different styles of it in text track ,I know many asked for this over the years but was very limited

thanks for the reply guys, for the life of me I thought i saw a couple of post saying that the r9 270, 280, and 290 are supported in sony vegas with regards to gpu rendering, so im wrong in assuming that? is the case the same when rendering sony avc also? and if yes, should have i just get the hd5870 instead?
    – but by all means, it seems like you guys pointed out that the nvidia driver is still seen , but the wierd thing sony vegas still sees the gpu supported card as an amd card not nvidia ….
I guess the questions are now , did i pick the wrong card to get better gpu render and playback ? and maybe best option if the 270 card is good choice is to do clean install of windows 7, and than amd catalyst driver… thanks again for your time guys

  • I just picked up an R9 270x to use with sony vegas pro 13 , had been using slow nvidia card, decided to upgrade and take advantage of render power , and maybe playback, i did a clean install etc , few things i noticed , playback is very smooth at full resolution when regular sony plugin or not to intensive 3rd party plugins.. as soon as you put magic bullet looks or film convert , you start loosing about half to a third of the fps , if you do a chain and plug both magic bullet nad film convert your talking about two third of the fps play back is gone at full res, that has been my experience so far ,
