Also having this problem of the dynamics changing with some falling text that I have. I have two words, one landing on of the other. The preview looks fine, as in the two words stack on each other and stay there. But once I render, the top word falls to the floor. Tried using Mograph cache tag, and it actually made it worse?

Any head way on this problem?

    Hey guys,

Well lets say for example I have 3 separate projects to work on, but the final render takes maybe an hour or more to render. The background renderer helps render within the same project, but what if I have people waiting for their project, which may be different? I guess the objective would be to render, and work on 2 different projects at the same time. Maybe there is a better work flow that I am not utilizing.

    Thanks for the responds.

    Hey Brian,

I do believe that I have the luminance on. I wont be back to my computer at home until this evening but that is the first thing I will check. If that doesnt work, I will post my scene to see what the problem is.

    Thanks for the quick response!

Oh…my mistake…I was under the impression that since I was using DV tape, that it was technically standard def. Thanks you very much for the quick response. So will there be any problems with the 24p on an FCP open timeline if I ever needed to add standard def footage to the project?

  • Hey guys,

Thanks for the quick responses. I like both of these ideas very much, its a great place to start! Thanks. Any other ideas that you guys happen to think of, please dont hesitate to let me know.

December 11, 2007 at 7:41 am in reply to: AE 6.5 Titles look Horrilbe once in FCP??

Hey guys thanks for all the replys. The snow out here in Colorado is too good to pass up a day of skiing, anyway..

    FCP Sequence Setting:
    720×480 NTSC DV (3:2)
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC-CCIR 601/ DV(720X480)
    Field Dominance- Lower(Even)
    Editing Timebase- 29.97
    Quicktime Video Settings- DV/DVCPRO-NTSC
    Quality-100%

The final output will be to DVD.

And I have been watching these clips in both in FCP and in the Quicktime player. I checked out your settings to view the high res preview, but still looks bad from FCP, and good from AE. Someone briefly mentioned, where I think they were going, with Square Pixels in opposed to more Rectangular pixels and having a comp size of 720×480 vs 720×486 I understand what you are saying, and agree with you. But both of my sequences in FCP and AE are 720×480. Do I need to export from AE as a different comp setting than 720×480 to go back into FCP? Again guys I appreciate the patience and help. If anything, every little step that I try is making it a little better than when we all started. So again, thank you, and if you need anymore information with what I am working with just continue to let me know. Thanks.

    Hey Kevin,

Sorry about that. I am in fact using the current settings, and the movie is self contained when exporting a Quicktime out of FCP. Also, my FCP sequence matches the sequence settings in After Effects. I am having to do this because whenever I bring a moving title from After Effects into FCP it loses all quality. So I have to guess where I want titles in FCP, so I can add them later in After Effects, to keep the quality when I make a final Quicktime Movie FROM After Effects. Hope this helps, and thanks to everyone that is helping me out. VERY much appreciated.

    Chris,

Thanks for your reply. I have been trying almost every main codec that I can, including animation, and even “none” for compression settings. So obviously it is not so much the codec, but the settings I am not correctly using, since you are having no problems with the animation codec inside of FCP.

I tried your settings (I think) and ran two tests. When I made a quicktime movie of the AE Title, from After Effects, of course it turns out fine. But when I bring it into FCP to make the same quicktime, again, it loses a lot of quality compared to when it comes from AE.

The only reason I tested it this way, is when I want to keep switching between FCP in After Effects. Right now, when I want to add effects, or titles to my projects, I am taking the entire final timeline from FCP, exporting as a quicktime, bringing that into AE for all the effects that I want, and using AE to render my final movie. But if I want to do any additional editing to the final product, I have to start the whole process over. This is why I am looking how to find what I need to do to bring AE titles, or whatever into FCP.

Can you give me an exact breakdown of what you do to transfer. I tried the Alpha Channel to Millions + and straight, but there must be something that I am missing. Thanks again in advance if you read this entire message. ha Talk to you soon.
