Having a similar problem with an AJ-PCD2 card reader. I’m running OS X Lion (10.7.4) on a 15″ MacBook Pro 3,1, with 2 GB RAM. The AJ-PCD2 (connected via USB) shows the card mounting on the desktop, but when attempting to use Log & Transfer in FCP 7.0.4, or even the P2 Card formatter, the card does not show up.

Anyone have an idea for a solution?

    Hi Bob,

Having the same issue as you were. Running OS X Lion (10.7.4) on a 15″ MacBook Pro 3,1, with 2 GB RAM. The AJ-PCD2 (connected via USB) shows the card mounting on the desktop, but when attempting to use Log & Transfer in FCP 7.0.4, or even the P2 Card formatter, the card does not show up.

Can you share what you did to figure out the problem?

    Thanks very much!

  • Maybe I didn’t use the correct term, “bug”, in the strictest sense, but I just wanted to convey that it was a very strange occurrence, and not something that should happen at all while working in FCP. And it happened for no apparent reason…That’s why I referred to it as a “bug.”

Again, the problem is fixed now, but has anyone else experienced this particular…hmm, what word should I use if not officially a “bug”…actually, I don’t know what else to call it, since a [software] bug is defined as, “an error, flaw, mistake, failure, or fault in a computer program…that produces an incorrect or unexpected result, or causes it to behave in unintended ways.”, which is what happened in this case!

Anyways, anyone else run into this?

  • Problem solved!!!

I think I’m gonna spray paint the following onto my edit suite wall:

“WHEN IN DOUBT, TRASH THE PREFERENCE FILES!!!”

Once I did that, the drop-frame check box became selectable again!!! What a weird bug!

(FYI, I was editing in DVCProHD 720p59.94, so I knew I should have the ability to layoff a drop-frame tape.)

I wish it was that simple, but unfortuantely, it is not. I’ve been using FCP for about 8 years now, and this color issue with Title 3D has only happened a few times, but when it does, I can think of no solution. When I highlight my text and change its color, and edit it into the timeline, it shows up as the opposite color. The regular text tool is not affected, just Title 3D. No rhyme or reason to it. Anyone experience this rare but frustrating quirk??
