Can we slap this PCIe 3.0 card in a PCIe 2.0 slot and just get a peaked performance or will everything just explode?

I see. So did you have any luck by trying it the way the manual instructs? I’m going to play around with that tonight because I have some R3D projects in my near future. So you are just working away in whatever quality then in the config tab you are changing something for render-only?

Could always render out a single shot to test. Computing is all about experimenting.

So are you saying for anything including resolve the quadro is a better GUI card and multipurpose card? It was sort of odd to read in the config guide with knowledge of the newer cards, them say that the best performance is still yielded with a GT120 and GTX 285

So with a GTX 470 in the double-width slot 1, and the GT 120 in slot 2 normally having the cinema display connected via mini displayport into the GT 120, should one switch his/her monitor to be connected to the GTX 470 for non-resolve apps or while booting into windows to be used as the main video card?

Can one even ‘not’ run 64 bit kernels in Mac OSX these days, given that there is no 32/64 bit choice on install? Also, aren’t all the Intels at least Early 2008 and up 64bit CPUs?
I see you run 24GB of RAM, and earlier said Resolve uses 3GB~. What do you recommend for a system?

Do Lion users actually need the Quadro drivers for Mac? I see everywhere on nVidias site that they are for leopard and snow leopard… Does Lion have these built in? or do they work just as good for Lion?

Yeah with cubix and ridiculous storage. I won’t need that kind of storage up front.

Yeah. It was all I could afford, so I hope it holds up for low budget 1080p and 2K workflows as best as it can until I can upgrade. Also, maybe by then Windows will be sufficient and I can build a more powerful PC for cheaper.
