I can’t use the plugin — I’m on a G5, not an Intel system. However, from what I understand in the manual, the log and transfer process only re-wraps the XDCAM EX video from the MP4 container into a QuickTime container. It doesn’t convert it to ProRes 422.

At any rate, you can avoid some of the long rendering and conforming process by rendering to ProRes 422. In the Sequence Settings dialog box, in the Render Control tab, set the codec to ProRes 422. Whenever you have to render, it’ll render to ProRes instead of XDCAM EX.

That’s about right. Because the cards are formatted FAT32, they’re limited to file sizes <4GB. That's why it splits them every 4 GB.

Don't worry, you're not losing any frames.

Aye — your Z1 has much better audio circuitry. Don’t get rid of it yet.

I’d recommend shooting at 30p (29.97) on your 7D, and use compressor to deinterlace and convert your Z1 footage to 29.97 progressive. You’re throwing away some image detail in the deinterlace process — but it’ll cut together more nicely. Typically, when I shoot with the Z1 or V1, I bring it down to 720p30 to edit.

Does the sensor overheat because of light hitting the sensor, or because of the camera electronics?

I’d like to hack the T2i to remove the mirror to use PL-mount lenses (like HotRodCamera’s mod with the 7D), but I’m concerned about leaving the sensor constantly exposed to light. Is that an issue?

Yeah dude, that’s definitely chromatic aberration. It’s a result of inexpensive glass. Which Fujinon lens did you try on it? Is it the 18x?

What primes are you using on the 700? With the CA13U, I presume?

It’s possible, but it’s not what QC is good at.

I love Quartz Composer, but if you want simple and reliable, stick with professional software/hardware that has support from the developer.
