Paul, why did you decide on the DVI detective, is that a known problem with the GTX 285? I’m having the same mysterious “detected but not detected” problem and can’t get hardware acceleration. Thanks for any insights!

Wow. So basically batch capture–one of the biggest advantages to DIGITAL video, in that it automatically breaks up clips and you can re-digitize later if you need to–is broken in Premiere Pro in 24p? Isn’t that something they should note, as in, it’s a major bug? I’m pretty sure FCP doesn’t have the same issues (we’re using PPro because of economics, and because of Dynamic Link).
We’re shooting at a 40:1 ratio; right now we have 21 hours of footage and about 30 minutes of finished product. It is in NO way feasible for us to manually set in and out points for every clip on the tape. And here I was thinking that Adobe was going to turn around the Premiere franchise with the release of the “Pro” version. Normally you’d think “Pro” would mean “works as it should.” But here we are four versions in and a few YEARS later and it still can’t handle 24p correctly.
Ah well. Sorry for the rant; just about to lose a day of my life manually setting pulldown on 120 shots. Thanks for your help.

Yes, we’re color-correcting and doing lots of effects work, so every clip needs to go through AE. It will end up on a variety of formats; 24FPS flash video file, a h.264 quicktime for iTunes, and eventually a 24p DVD.

Thanks for the suggestion. As it turns out, After Effects was choking on any and all clips in Premiere Pro that were speed-adjusted.
Have I discovered a bug? Both clips were slightly sped up using the rate-stretch timeline tool. Anyway, for future reference, anyone having this problem–try setting the clips back to 100% and then re-applying the speed adjustment in AE.

I’m assuming when it comes to eSATA expresscards that one is as good as another (Firmtek, NitroAV, Sonnet…)?
