NVM. I got something to work but I can’t use this in my project. What I’m trying to do is more tedious than I originally anticipated and I or anyone for that matter has anywhere near enough patience to work with it. Thanks all for trying to help!

How do I get the footage to scale down inside the matte without the matte scaling down with the footage?
maybe there is a different way to apply a dividing matte

I’ve done everything it says in the tutorial which I get the desired effect.. but I’m doing something that extends beyond this tutorial which is present in my previous topic of explanation. the video is hopefully enough for a reference point. Once again any help is appreciated! If noone can help it’s perfectly fine.

It is parented to the triangle and it moves and scales with the triangle however I want more of the scene to show up in the masked triangle and I think doing this is a completely different thing. Because right now I have the matte effect on the footage as it is in the tutorial but I’m also scaling down the footage. I have an example of my project here with the faulty effect:

As you can see I want to start it out with the triangles at 0% opacity where you can see the right color balance on the footage and then as the triangles scale down it fades to 100% opacity. I hope you have a solution. I believe something like this is pretty easy to do I think I’m just missing a couple of steps.
