July 20, 2011 at 5:24 pm in reply to: clip becomes shorter in FCP

Has anyone found a solution? I have the same issue.

MXF wrapped footage (canon xf305 captured via canon xf utility)
    FCP v6.0.6
Clip is 2.1 GB and 5:12 in finder/QT
    Clip is 2:06 in FCP

When I locate the clip in the project and select “Reveal clip in Finder” it directs me to the clip it is referencing and sure enough, it’s the appropriate length.

    Thanks!

Business has slowed almost to a halt, so I guess it’s time to get out the old Chamber of Commerce schedule of events…

So would it be wise in these times to take out a line of credit in order to fund some advertising and marketing campaigns? Clients are looking thin, as about half of them were in state funded education (California is falling apart) and have simply pulled completely out of spending with us.

It’s time to hunt down new clients, I guess. I just want to make sure that I’m directing marketing funds in the right direction.

Sorry, I see now what you were seeing…

    Actors – 1/day @ $250/day = $750

    Sorry for the mistake!

The admin fee is to cover work already completed on finding writers, crew, actors, even though the job has not been awarded.

The crew is pretty experienced, but not union – gear is pro (Canon XLH1 is the lowest common denominator – all else is very high end, but they wanted the cost savings of HDV).

Editing is due to the expected re-edits (they want 2-5 versions in order to test different markets i.e., highlighting different features).

This project is definitely being billed per hour, but the client wanted a rough idea of the overall cost. They’ve been burned by other DR-TV spots ($250K) that didn’t give them the return they wanted.

Actors – may have to re look at this but I figured $250/day per actor (1 actor per day).

The production budget is for crew and equipment.

From what I think you’re saying, I’m pretty close, but again, I too, have been at the mercy of the flat rate, and it’s not fun. This will definitely be billed per hour, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t undercutting myself and then have to go back and ask for x the money. Thanks for your help!

    Moo!

OK, so I guess PP just doesn’t like 2 MC sequences in the same project at all.

I deleted the the second MC sequence from the project and everything was fine, but then recreated it from scratch, and we’re back to slowsville.

Could this be a corrupted video clip?

    I’ll be back.

    Nope.

It has nothing to do with keyframes, either in, or on the MC timelines. I deleted them all and still lags when 2 MC timelines are nested in the same parent timeline. As soon as the second MC timeline is removed, it’s back to normal and all is good, except for the fact that I need 2 MC timelines in the same Parent Timeline.

I guess I’ll have to “render and replace” one, or both of them.

If anyone has some insight on this, it would be helpful.

    OK, nevermind.

I decided to go back in one more time to see what happened.

Upon some moving things around, I discovered that more than one (1) nested timeline in the same parent timeline, will cause this lag. I don’t know why, but as soon as I removed the 2nd nested timeline, it was back to normal.

I will be posting a new thread topic.

I’m having similar problems. It just started yesterday, which is weird, as it was about 1-1/2 weeks after quicktime was upgraded. I’ve opened several projects, all with the same lag in playback.

After Premiere starts, it takes about 10 seconds, and then “photoshopserver” stops responding. This causes the main viewer to have anywhere from a 10 to 60 second lag on updating whenever the cursor is moved.

Playback takes even longer to start.

I need to update my profile, so here’s the new info:

    MacPro 8 core 2.8 GHz (early 2008)
    4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
