Now that you mention it, it’s kind of vexing me that I spent full price on Red the supposed flagship. Now I upgraded to BBC Continuum Complete 9 and Boris red 5 > does not support BBC Continuum Complete 9. Asking when Boris Red 6 is to be released I was met with silence, this can only infer that there is no plan at this time to allow Red to support new plugin architecture. So in short my full purchase price for Red 5 was a waste of cash for I could have spent the dough on BCC units for any host.

Now to your question. I have BCC Continuum Complete 8 installed and in Boris Red 5.5 there is no folder per se but most of the units plugs are in Boris Red but there is an absence of Flicker Fixer that shows up in AE, Premier and Sony Vegas Pro but alas Not in the Flagship Boris Red.

Believe it or not I use a strange combo of Vegas for cutting and audio and Eyeon fusion for FX titles graphics and compositing. So far I have butchered a script that will open the Debugmode frameserver with a prompt of selection or entire timeline. Then manually open the resulting file in Fusion (32 bit only). I don’t know how to write code that will transfer the arguments from java to python. Example scripts are available from Eyeon for fusion and have that section working. My dilemma is to tie the two scripts together. The result would be akin to Avid and fusion connect.

Hi, I’ve been unable to recreate the issue with my installation of Red 5.5. Why not forgo all the issues and use red as a plugin in Premier. IF you don’t have premier on a particular machine you can always download and install Davinci Resolve Lite from Black magic design, it’s free and cross platform plus it will render out to a number of file types including mov. Slowly but surely resolve is morphing into a full fledged NLE.

Well ain’t that nice. I think I’ll play with the macro idea n see what can be done with it. Then I will bombard you with questions if it’s all right. Thanks loads, Russ Froze

Hi, it’s very simple. Training in as many workflows as you can get your hands on can only result in your ability to garner more work. Don’t concern yourself much about the tool you use or what others say, concentrate on the task of telling the story that is what will get you past the front office and into the editing chair. I, like others have found SVP to do what is needed with a minimum of fuss and bother.

Did you calibrate the monitor you edit on?

  • You’re right the only options in 5.5 are avi or targa sequence. I guess exporting through a host is the only way now.

  • Hi, This is going to be a bit tough to explain but I’ll try. There are several approaches that can be taken to accomplish what is needed, these are but two methods.
    ————————————————————–
    Option 1
1 Select the tracks that contain the video you wish to cut together. The tracks, not the events on the timeline but the tracks. Make sure none of the audio tracks are selected.
2 Under tools / Multicamera select ‘enable multi camera editing’ or type cltr+shift+d
3 Under tools / Multicamera select ‘create multi camera track’.

This will place all the selected video onto one track and open multiple views of the video footage in the viewer, your audio tracks will be unaffected and can be edited as needed.
4 When finished video edit, select tools / Multicamera select ‘Expand to Multiple tracks:
5 Cut the audio and group with corresponding video tracks.
6 Now cut your piece together
    —————————————————————-
    Option 2
    1 Select all tracks
2 Under tools / Multicamera select ‘enable multi camera editing’ or type cltr+shift+d
    3 cut the piece together
4 On the timeline choose the audio event, right click, choose take and select the audio file you wish to use near the bottom of the drop down menu.
