Dror – once sync’ed up, did you lock the tracks? Did you stop one of the cameras and then restart? you can run both tracks, then when you see one go out, cut the clip, re-sync and you should be good

  • John, Thomas,

Many thanks for taking the time to put together such detailed responses! I really appreciate it.

John – I’ve been using Vegas since v4 and didn’t realize that it had the Match Media Settings option – that will come in handy not just in DVX Squeeze project I’m working on, but with projects I seem to find with all kinds of strange footage.

Thomas – I’m going to take your suggestions to heart and try this over the weekend – very much enjoyed Requiem film!! I’m going to share it with my father, a navy aircraft carrier veteran. Super Job!!

    Thanks again!

  • thanks Noah – Obviously my first instinctual reaction is to check the eBay’s, craiglists, etc – calling the manufacturer, especially since it’s in my home state would be too easy!!!!!

    Thanks again

Unfortunately I never used the multi-cam functions of Vegas since I’ve been a loyal user of Ultimate S for years now. I can only tell you that John and the folks at VASST have been the epitome of how a great company should work – great products, even better customer service. I use ultimate S for just about ever project I work on – its multi-cam feature could not be easier, worth the price in that functionality alone – plus you have all the other features, again, which I use daily – didn’t mean to try and sell Ultimate S, just giving you another potion for how to get the job done fast and easy

    February 23, 2009 at 2:49 am in reply to: DVX100A & AG-DVC80 matching (?)

Thanks Noah – I primarily shoot rock bands on stage, and fairly fast motion stage shows (community theater work) – since there is a good deal of fast action/movement with this type shooting, wouldn’t I get a good amount of strobing with 24p?

I would certainly prefer a 2nd DVX, but the difference between a $800 DVC80 and $1,200 DVX is fairly great today with my current available funds.

The difference between these two cameras is also the DVC80 has over 300 hours, the DVX about 150. Do you consider that a big difference?

If can get enough strong arguments, I’d consider taking a loan for the $400 difference. I’m just on the fence right now and appreciate all your insight, experience and comments.

    SPOT,

Yes, this is a paying client – I have several of your books and DVDs, but they are all a bit dated now.

  • Rob, John,

Thank you both very much for all your comments, suggestions and direction.

I’m using Ozone 3 – but this is my first true go at it. I have individual camera audio links (used to sync up, but will mute in final mix), and a separate board mix, house mix, and combination house/board mix. No individual instruments or vocal tracks. All the tracks are now sync’ed up – the only control type device I have is, other than a mouse is a Shuttle Pro (I’m always looking for a 1st gen, 2nd hand Mackie Controller)

In addition to a stereo render, I’d like to have a go at a 5.1 render. Perhaps use more of the house mix in the rear, the board upfront and something that punches the vocals in the front/center. Which plug-in/preset would be best to bring out the vocals? I’ll certainly experiment, but was wondering if anyone had a personal preference when looking for this outcome.

    Many thanks again – RR

Rick – many thanks for you insight – I have Ultimate S, but I guess there is no harm in giving MB a test since my partner already has it – last question: is there a quality difference between the old V2.0 and the new Magic Bullet Looks?

    Thanks again

If I’m creating and rendering my project in Vegas 8, but use Sorenson Squeeze for Flash rendering, what would be the best setting/option/? within Sorenson for uploading to YouTube?

    Thanks

September 20, 2007 at 5:26 pm in reply to: Mackie Control questions

    Spot,

For a Vegas user, is there any significant difference between the first gen Mackie Control and the new Mackie Control Universal Pro?

For sometime now I’ve wanted to use a Mackie Control in my workflow, but the price was too high to justify. Now with the new version, the original are being sold on Ebay for half the cost.

Any DSE NYC training/demo appearances scheduled?
