I’m not sure how well the monitors will handle SD, but I’d go with the JVC. I’ve not heard great things about the Sony Luma monitors. On the other hand, the JVC monitor has been pretty highly regarded.

I would try h.264 at 320×240 resolutions with the data rate constrained to 525Kbit/sec.

To expound a little bit more, one reason it’s easier to send a timeline to Color is because it will automatically set up your Color project according to the timeline. Plus you don’t have to try to navigate to a file using the Color interface. In my opinion, the weakest part of color is file navigation. It doesn’t even list items in a logical order.

I believe you can only send timelines to Color from FCP. The other option is to just import the clip in directly from color.

First of all, I’m guessing that you might be better served posting in a different forum as web tv and FCP aren’t exactly the same kind of topic.

Now, I don’t know a lot about web tv, but my guess is that the functionality you’re looking for is probably in flash.

I would guess that the color shift is coming from the fact that DV doesn’t use RGB color space. Instead it uses YUV. The shift is probably how FCP translates RGB to YUV.

To test this, create a timeline with the codec set to animation or if you have the AJA codecs installed, use the 10-bit RGB uncompressed codec. Then drop the file into that timeline. Did the color shift?

To get around this shift, I would either take the file into After Effects or Photoshop CS3. Both of those have color management. The new version of Illustrator might have it to, but I don’t know for sure. Change your working color space to YUV.
