  • option to send clip from FCP to Color is grayed out

Hi, anybody know why the option to send a clip to Color from FCP would be grayed out? I can send the clip to any other program except color when right clicking. The program is installed & functioning perfectly. Thanks

I believe you can only send timelines to Color from FCP. The other option is to just import the clip in directly from color.

What Russell said. Nest the clip. Send the nest.

As others have noted, Send to Color is for timelines only.

In Color, you can simply import individual clips and render them for FCP.

Easier to just set up a simple timeline, drop whatever individual clips you want to grade into that, then Send that to Color.

To expound a little bit more, one reason it’s easier to send a timeline to Color is because it will automatically set up your Color project according to the timeline. Plus you don’t have to try to navigate to a file using the Color interface. In my opinion, the weakest part of color is file navigation. It doesn’t even list items in a logical order.
