I thought that I tried control+D, but it seems that my patience with the software is low right now that I hit command+Q so quickly afterwards that I didn’t see the duration window show up. Go figure.

I’m so, so, so sad right now.
I have a slug (gap) and I can’t tell what the duration is without going to that start and end of it to see what the difference is in the timecode. And I can’t just click on the gap and choose a new duration to make it the exact length that I want it. Maybe they need the new powerful OS Lion to be able to add these processor intensive features?

Seriously going to start training on adobe and avid. We already have adobe installed on all our systems and it works with all of our hardware.
Not change anything quite yet as we’re in the middle of some big projects. But I have my doubts that FCPX will be updated enough for us even a year from now.

Totally correct. If we don’t see important updates or start hearing from Apple soon, then we’re going to have to start moving on. I’m not going to wait for years hoping that they fix stuff in the next major update. I also disagree with some of the basic structures of the media backbone that I don’t know if they can fix. Would love to see Apple get it together, but so far it doesn’t look good.

I bet someone at Apple is looking at this forum with this release.
Trolls are always dumb, but with the release of FCPX, there are plenty of upset die-hard FCP7 users that could be accused of trolls. I just think that this is such a big deal that people should be allowed to complain.

We’d better just let them complain for a while. What has happened with the release of FCPX isn’t like a standard upgrade. It’s not like the trolls that we’ve had in the past with other FCP upgrades complaining about the loss of LiveType. This is really a major deal. I’m not condoning trolls, but there are a lot of pro users who are very concerned with the future of this software. So I say:
SPEAK UP! IF YOU HATE IT, SAY IT! LET APPLE KNOW THAT YOU’RE MAD! JOIN THE REVOLUTION! (but please be civil while doing it 🙂
FCP7 is outdated with processing power, but right now it feels like FCPX might take years to get back to what FCP7 could do workflow wise.

1. I see flawed organizational problems in FCPX that are not compatible with post production facilities needs.
2. I don’t know if I trust apple to fix these fundamentally flawed designs.
