January 31, 2007 at 2:35 pm in reply to: Transmitter and Receivers for use with Mixer and HDV cameraHey,
Thanks for everyone’s help, this has given me a lot to think about. Can anyone recommend a stand alone recorder that could be easily used in a final cut pro work flow. Right now our FCP machine does not have any additional video or audio cards so we have an apple tower with intel chips that is out of the box. So the only inputs on the machine are firewire, usb and the little mini mic input. Are there any DAT machines that have a firewire or USB output?
Thanks again,

January 30, 2007 at 9:02 pm in reply to: Transmitter and Receivers for use with Mixer and HDV cameraThis would be in a small club setting or a private venue setting. I wouldn’t necessarily need to go to all three cameras, just one maybe two for safety. I ran into a situation where our marantz recorder ended up recording much too low a resolution so I want to be able to go to the cameras for back up. I am totally unfamiliar with transmitters and receivers so I just wanted to know some models that other professionals have used successfully in a field setting.
Thanks again,

I have now tried a completely different machine with a Kona LHE card and had the same problem.
Our system:
4x 2.5ghz Powere PC G5 (Not Intel)
8 GB DDR2 SDRAM
Mac OS X 10.4.8
FCP 5.1.2 (Just Upgraded)
Currently the Apple PCI card (But did have the atto in the machine with the same problem) in the Fourth Slot
Kona 3 card with K3 Box in the Third SlotGalaxy HDX 16F2 Raid with 6 Terrabytes Currently has about 3 TB filled connected through the PCI. When tested it is putting through 250 mb/s of throughput. I believe the 16 drives were split into 2 sets of 8 but I am not sure because I did not set it up.
Everyone’s help is greatly appreciated.

I have contacted support for the raids and the card…at this point I don’t think it is the raid or the cards because we have tried two different cards and two different raids. I am thinking that it might be the Kona 3 card.

Yes the Kona and the PCI card are in those slots. Now we have also tried switching out the PCI card which didn’t work. I also tried the DVC PRO HD Codec which had no problems capturing. So it is only having a problem capturing uncompressed 1080i both 8 bit and 10 bit. I have tried two different raids both of which when tested have more than enough throughput for Uncompressed. One was running 250 mbs the other around 400 mbs. I reinstalled the Kona software, trashed my preferences… I am running out of ideas and patience.

We have now tried two super fast raids and both are not working…I think it must be pci card or the kona card.

Could it be the pci card..PLEASE HELP!!!!! Anyone????????

The capture scratch is set to the raid, I already have 2.4 terabytes loaded. There is still 3.5 terabytes of headroom. Also we don’t have hi def reference here, the reference on the deck is set to input video on the srw-5500. Could the reference possibly be the problem? This is really getting frustrating.

I used the aja app and I am getting at least 250 mb/s of throughput for writing.
