I’ll give it a try. I do know that our graphic artist imports my footage directly to his Mac G5 via fiber optic network and has no problems. He has a Cinewave card but we gave him the Pro-res HQ codec and it works for him fine in AE. Another editor with the same programs I have but on a G5 with a Kona LH capture card has no problems in AE either.

It’s all on the same machine.

Its not the same broadcast world anymore in the local TV market. It’s always do more with less. We have 3 editors and two animation artists that share stuff back and forth between programs. We are connected via fiber and use a common server. However each machine has priority over their own drive partitions.

At least 3 of us have use both programs to complete our work. We need a product that will blanket license or is more affordable to buy multiple copies. Everyone in the chain needs the video effects so that their machine will read the effects off the other persons project if they have to make changes or get something out of those projects done on another machine.

The product also needs to be available to both Final Cut and AE on the same machine without buying a copy for each program.

I don’t know if we’re running something different than you but we just upgraded to Leopard on all our Macs wen we moved up to Studio 2. We upgraded our artist’s OS at the same time and he runs After Effects and Photoshop and interacts with all of us with no issues. He’s running on a G5 dual 2GHz with 4 Gig Ram. Our editors are using same machine with the exception of the new one that has the 2 X 2.66 GHz Dual Core. He offered to share any info if it helps.

Thanks for the recommendation. The Kona 3 doesn’t seem to have any analog inputs though. We’ll look for the one that does.

If you just want a quick adjustment you might try the gamma crrection filter in image control. It won’t fix it all but for teaching purposes it will make the image better

Thanks for the suggestion. I had our artist try it with no success on the shift issue. I don’t think I described the problem correctly. I get graphic files from teo artists at the station via network deartmental connection. One artist gives me files through our sans disk fiber connection. Those files I never seem to have a problem with. The other artist leaves files via a drop box on the network connection. His files are the ones that seem to be giving me problems. They are layered images that I turn different layers on and off depending on the spot and sponsor. The other file was a logo with multiple layers. The problem occurs on the rendered transition (dissolve) adding this graphic or disolving from one graphic to this one over a video track. I have also seen the problem with the graphic shifting with a transition in the video track beneath it. We have tried various changes to the graphic in photoshop including the one you suggested but can’t seem to solve the issue. We don’t know if it was an issue with the way he creates the graphic or something in the importing process. They are .psd files.

On the first graphic I had a problem when I tried grabbing the layers I wanted out of the master graphic and then pasting them on the timeline separately for each sponsor. I solved that by just copying the master file and then within it turning the appropriate layers on or off. I still noticed a slight shift in the graphic on transitions in the video layer beneath the graphic. There were no changes within the graphic clip on the higher layer.

Thanks for any more suggestions ahead of time.
