  • Lightening a dark image?

Posted by Saya Hillman on August 7, 2005 at 1:08 pm

Some of the youth I’m teaching how to make a documentary invterviewed someone in a dark restaurant, in front of bright windows, so needless to say, the image is very dark. I see there’s a few filter options for changing this — anyone have suggestions for the best one/combination? Still learning what all the filters do myself….

(oh, and on that topic, removing wind/generator humming noise? will a filter help?)

    Thanks!

    April,

Try Shadow/Highlight from Lyric.com. It’s free. For the noise, try Soundtrack Pro or Bias Soundsoap.

If you just want a quick adjustment you might try the gamma crrection filter in image control. It won’t fix it all but for teaching purposes it will make the image better
