I have the Canon 5D.
I am creating food and cooking videos for the web. I will be shooting mid section up sinterview shots of talent which I would like a shallow depth of field. I will also be shooting close up shots of food which I would also like a shallow dof. The restaurant is typical natural lighting but we will be lighing most of the time. Would love some thoughts on lenses for this toye of work. Mid level budgetThanks for your thoughts.

Hi All:
We are in the same boat. We started developing some web video concepts and have had a mixed bag trying to create a partnership with a web company. Most of the companies we have spoken with have very little real experience with video.

Thanks everyone for the input! As I thought this is an interesting debate, especially with video and design people. I totally agree that I hate the thought of another companies logo on my site. I really think it cheapens my design and look. That being said, there are many advantages to the youtube as host concept. First it will improve the SEO. Second it will allow viewing from Iphone and Ipad as well. Great debate!
Thanks again and keep your thoughts coming.

Richard we are leaning toward 1 to 2 minutes per video. A quick introduction and one training tip. Our goal is to create a personal connection between the staff and members, and hopefully sell personal training.

Hi All:
Thanks so much for your input and thoughts.I should not have called these really viral videos, they are really video training tips. The are sent to people on the companies mailing list. These tips accomplish 2 things they introduce members of the gym to the trainers and give a little training advise as well.
I am definitly not going to send the video file via email, but send a link. In what form, I am still debating. I did see a company called Bomb Bomb that specializes in this, but do not know anyone that has used them.
Thanks again for the thoughtful insite and exchange of ideas.

It is a tough time in this industry, as well as the economy in general. Editing as a career has changed much like the publishing industry changed in the 80’s. But that’s not what you need to hear right now!You need to establish yourself. List every single production company you can find, find out who is in charge of hiring freelancers, send a resume and reel or reel link with an offer to work a day free to try you out. When you talk to them know there business, clients, style of work ect. show them interest and finally ask for the job. Don’t be shy, ask. in short sell yourself.
There are a lot of people looking for the same job. School or no school nobody owes you work, so show them why you deserve the shot. Make them want to hire you!!!
Best of luck! Keep you head up
