    Thanks, John.

Can client A share the link with Uncle Bob and Aunt Sue, or would they actually have to download the file, upload the file, then share it? I know that nothing is fool proof, I just want to make it as practically inconvenient as possible to share.

What bit rate do you recommend?

Would you say that 400MB for a 10 minute clip is the norm or is that a huge file size? Reason I ask, the upcoming products will be 25-45 minutes long.

The ART is without a doubt the weak link. It came along as a part of a package deal. I border-line loathe that piece of equipment. I’ve replaced the tubes in there and still don’t really care for it.

The API looks interesting (and expensive!!! wow!). Thanks for pointing me that way. I’ve read the manual regarding this, but can you explain the 2:1 feature on each input? Is that a compressor/limiter of sorts?

I am recording 24 bit to the Tascam, and that is a LARGE improvement from the 16 bit version of the same. The ART preamp has a Sample Rate/Dither selection knob on the front.

By “signal diversity” I mean that it gives a lot of different output possibilities (XLR, 1/4″, SPDIF, Optical, etc…).
That’s very important to me because I don’t want to run through one machine to get to another. I want them all to be independently connected to the preamp. I had a couple of machines tied together at one point, but then when one errors, you lose signal to the one downstream.

Ok, so expand out of multicamera once finished editing, apply the track motion to my static camera track, and then render without putting the tracks back in multicamera mode?

    Thanks, Mike.

I now have the task of working through my archives… I will be glad I did it, though.

Another question: do you leave it as “upper field first”?

Mike, I’m looking into this mxf thing. Do you use the VBR or CBR version?

Thanks, Mike. Obviously you prefer the MXF over the MP4. Can you explain to a codec-ignorant person like myself the whys and hows behind your decision?

I appreciate the feedback. With all of the above in mind, what do you recommend for archival? Almost all of my delivery is currently from SVP to DVDA and to DVD. I render DVDA MPEG and AC3 (Dolby Pro). Should I render all as HD MP4s (audio included)? What do you guys do?

The FasstApps look pretty cool. I’ll definitely look into all the different tools available.

What I’m looking at needing to do is the following. I’m currently finishing up a large project where I have 47 separate editted clips. They are each their own separate videos and in their own separate .veg files. I would like to do all of the editing and then at night, when I’m not working, use the computer’s resources to render the files. I only need to render them to their own AC3 and MPG files. The current way I have to do that is have multiple instances of SVP open and rendering. Then I have to come back and shut down each one, open another .veg file and render it. Will FasstApps help with that, or do I need Production Assistant to accomplish this?
