Canon GL2 Firewire out to the comp. I’ve done this same method before with other tapes that didn’t have issues, and it worked fine.

Thank you!
As always, you guys deliver.

Thanks for all the input.
Is “CMOS, Jello-ing effect” a real thing? If so, how do I avoid it?
I’ve never heard of disabling the dynamic IS while on a tripod. Why is that?

Here’s another/better example: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2SPxtIbEnKJMjBIVVF3ZGlqUTQ/view?usp=sharing

Thanks! I will give that a try.
You’re right. It definitely will not be true stereo.
Something I tried and had a bit of success with: I placed the left channel and right channel on different tracks and panned them 100% opposite of each other. I then delayed the right track by about 15ms. This at least gave the illusion of what defines stereo in an XY pattern (time difference in the mics).

I finally get to feel like a “giver” instead of just a “taker” here on this forum!!! I figured out a workaround. Maybe this will help someone else.
I lined up the new/missing footage with the old project layout in expanded multicamera. I then did the ol’ Ctrl+A and Split. I added three new empty video tracks(#4, 5 and 6), selected from the split to the end, and dragged the selected portion down to the three empty video tracks. I then combined tracks #4, 5 and 6 into a mutlicamera track. That allowed me to edit the remainder in multicamera while leaving the previous material undisturbed.
Hope this helps someone. Please ask questions if you have any.

Thank you all for the comments. Other input is also still welcome.
I do not have any grand ideas on how well the wolverine will work. I’m taking a rather conservative approach knowing that it will provide better quality than projecting onto a wall and recording with camera, but not near as good as a a legitimate telecine machine. I’m also not working with super high quality film, either. I’m in the business of capturing old memories of people that were lower than a novice with a camera. These people are unwilling to pay the cost of a true telecine transfer.
Any other thoughts regarding project properties, speed, frame rate, resampling, etc…?

I understand the frustration with educating clients. I had a large catastrophe over a thumbprint on the DVD once (“my video is skipping”). The big problem was, this client had held the DVDs of all the subsequent customers for two weeks without my knowledge over this issue. All reprinted DVDs (just to make sure) and lots of phone calls cleared up the issue, but it was time I could have spent better doing something else.

I also believe you are absolutely correct in regards to the end of an era. It’s happening right as I was getting a little comfortable in my process and approach. I’ll just suck it up and find cheese elsewhere.
