I see. Great. Good tip about creating a new numbered folders to keep track of the media. But as a follow up question to “delete the MDB and PMR files and allow Avid to rebuilt those database files,” from which folder do I delete the MDB and PMR? Do I delete this from the “1” folder in general? Should these be carried over to the new numbered folder I make weather it be “9” or “100” like you say? You said Avid starts with the “1” folder and fills up numerically, so does it start there with those files regardless?

    Thank you!

Interesting. I think I need more information about importing verses AMA linking. Any other links to check out?

Thank you for all this information. It’s really great.

I see, got it. Great, thank you.

Still have to wrap my head around Avid’s codecs, but I’m off to an okay start.

    Thank you!

I watched a tutorial that showed an h.264 workflow (not AMA) and transcoding was part of it. I figured it was a good practice, but I’d really like to know the most commonly used professional process. (I’ve only ever had to load P2 into Avid in a pro environment.)

I’ve also been reading that AMA can have issues reconnecting down the line?

Is it okay to edit h.264 in Avid? What if you’re editing with varying codecs?

And still my question is about the titling being a different Video type.

    Thanks!

  • I converted the 1280×720 30fps H.264 footage in Compressor using the default ProRes droplet [specifying the aspect ratio to be 1920×1080 and the frame rate to be 29.97].

Then imported the clips in FCP.

    Thanks.

  • Yes, it is definitely 1280×720 at 30fps – not 29.97.

    So I did this correctly?

    Thank you kindly!

  • It’s a G5 tower. Capturing to an external drive, not daisy-chained. Now the tapes are capturing but the capture cuts out and then starts again at random intervals. Could this be that they were recorded and damaged upon recording? The camera they were recorded on is a Sony V1U, so it’s seen better days, and the play head hasn’t been cleaned in over six months.

    Thanks kindly.

I am having similar issues, however, I cannot locate the “/var/spool/qmaster/” folder. It says the folder does not exists. I check in System Preferences and I am not able to edit the Cluster Storage location of “/var/spool/qmaster/”.

    Help is much appreciated; thanks!
