  • Convert 30fps to 29.97fps – Looks ‘wobbly’

I have some footage I shot way back on the Canon T1i at 1280x720p 30fps. I am editing in HD ProRes at 29.97. I converted the 30fps footage in Compressor using the default ProRes droplet with changes to 1920×1080 and to 29.97. The compressed footage seems to play back ‘wobbly’ and as if the audio does not match the video. If I move through the footage frame by frame, no frames repeat.

I am using FCP6 on a MacBook Pro. I’ve had a few mild issues with other HD ProRes footage not being able to play back properly because of the graphics card, etc.

Did I do this conversion correctly?

If not, what did I miss?

    Thank you kindly!

    Rosie

Yes, it is definitely 1280×720 at 30fps – not 29.97.

    So I did this correctly?

    Thank you kindly!

I converted the 1280×720 30fps H.264 footage in Compressor using the default ProRes droplet [specifying the aspect ratio to be 1920×1080 and the frame rate to be 29.97].

Then imported the clips in FCP.

    Thanks.
