Maybe someone more advanced can answer…MY guess would be to format the SD card from a computer (Mac, Windows) then try and load it in the camera and see if that works.

Did you update your camera? HVX200 is compatible after a firmware update…

The real flag on the post is you are capturing P2 and playing P2 (MXF) in FCP???
I didn’t know FCP was capable of this, number 1…so I’ll assume you didn’t mean that.
Number 2: Whatever format you shoot in (1080i, 720, SD) FCP will import in that native format, and yes, do as the other described, setup your timeline and EVERYTHING should be realtime.

I’m running this workflow now for both SD and HD and I’ve had no problems.
From the field, if needed, I offload to a P2 Store (if I’m not shooting a mountain of footage, I’ll wait and use my laptop to transfer clips which is 10X faster than USB and P2 Store)…from there I open FCP Import window and navigate to my folder…highlight the clips…import (convert)…and all is well when I start cutting.

You shouldn’t have any issues or extra steps if your sequence is correct, as suggested.

Go for it…like I mentioned in the thread, I’m not an audio guy, but Logic works nicely for what I need. It plays well with the LH too. Its great for working with problem audio and complex mixes. OMF is solid from my experience. Big learning curve if you’re not used to audio programs like ProTools, but its not to bad…learning it for video work is fairly painless.

This probably doesn’t advance the discussion any, but the enter, cancel, save and undo buttons also work with FCP and the Mackie MCU.
Also I believe the left, right, up and down work too.
The MCU really comes alive when you use it with Logic Pro. MCU plays nicely with Soundtrack as well. I would love to see more FCP/Soundtrack functionality and response with the MCU: assignable buttons, etc.. other than that, the MCU has been flawless for the past 1 1/2 years I’ve had it.

  • Tony…
    U definitely know your stuff!!
Nice working with you in LA earlier this year (G.Garvin).

East Coast/West Coast beef??? Is this video production or 1990’s HipHop??
We lost Biggie and Tupac because of that! 🙂

Hope you’re doing well. Nice to see you in the AJA forum.

FCP 6 is on the way, but my MCU is working fine with 5.1.4.
It has disappeared in the past, but not often. no different from a firewire drive disappearing on rare occasions.

Mackie has some new boards coming out that are USB based (Midi converter built in).
I’m running the MIDI/USB Edirol interface… no drama.
