I find it’s been a constant problem irregardless of system or quicktime version.

[Le Coyote] “So the browser must be in “list view”, with the bin containing the clip open.”

I’ve never used anything BUT list view. And I rarely need to match back to the browser b/c I log in such a way that I always know where I’m cutting from. Still, shift-f is a great way to jump back for those odd times. Now match-framing to my source clip…I use that ALL the time.

Snapping works just fine for me, too. I agree with Kevin 100%. FCP ain’t Avid and it’s a waste of time trying to force it.

I think you’ll have to actually cut and paste everything into a new anamorphic seq. For some unknown reason, the existing footage in the sequence won’t display correctly when you change your sequence setting. New stuff that you cut in will, but not the existing. This is what I remember, anyhow.

Just make yourself a new anamorphic seq, then copy and paste everything into it.

[Jeff] “I’ve been looking for years and can’t find the function.”

    shift-f, I think

  • Yep, that’s the one. That should be easier and avoid any field problems.

Force your media offline (back up your project first) by unmounting your media drives. You can also try forcing chunks of media offline, instead, to narrow down the problem. Just create a temp folder on your media drive and move files into it bit by bit, trying to open your project each time. It might just be a corrupt file.

Very first, try manually deleting just your render files on each scratch disk.

  • I’m not sure how your image needs flipping, but try the Perspective filters – they’ll give you a better result. The image degredation depends on what codec you’re using. If it’s NTSC-DV (DV25) then there is recompression involved (just like adding an effect) but I’m not sure that it’s noticeable.

[Tom Matthies] “I just order a drive enclosure from firmtek today. It accepts SATA drives.”

Tom, would you mind posting the link to this sata enclosure?

I haven’t used the dropped frames report in years. And I haven’t had a dropped frame in years. It’s waaaay too sensitive. I’m not sure what it’s looking at exactly, but I’ve had it go off every minute or so for no apparent reason, so I finally turned it off and never looked back. I watch 90% of my material when I capture, too, so I’d probably catch any problems. I think FCP can even search for dropped frames after the fact, if you’re at all worried.

That’s great! I’m glad it’s finally working. Happy cutting!
