I have seen many people here in this forum discussing their various versions of drawbacks for them when looking at the P2 system. They have been discussed from so many different points of view — but when people can’t get everyone else to agree with their “version” of the drawbacks, then they accuse “everyone” of not listening and not being able to discuss issues “realistically.”
I have seen you make many great posts, Simon, and add a lot to the discussion. My point was that this thread was — well, let’s just say that in my opinion, at least, it was not one of your shining moments.
My real point in all this, Simon, is why do people who are clearly not really interested in this camera — except to deride it and malign those who are considering it — hang out here and spend time dissing it?
As I have said to Jiri and others here: If you don’t like it, fine, there’s something out there that you do like, move on.

Why is it that some people will beat a dead horse right into the ground with all this ponderous pontificating on things that are nothing more than wasting time since they really want something else altogether…

Well, the most obvious one to me would be price, Simon. ;o)
I’d hope that a camera that costs many times as much, would do a hell of a lot of things that a lesser priced camera couldn’t claim to do.
Sorry to be so hard on you, Simon, but I really find all of this ranting by people whose minds are closed to be tiresome, banal and oh so boring…

Some of the bigger businesses and ratings sites have a team of attorneys whose job it is to protect their respective companies from the repercussions of comments made on their sites.
Small independent sites are probably best served by locating their server in Vietnam or somewhere else where the laws would make it very tough for anyone to have recourse against you.

In California, this is a crime and the County District Attorney’s office will gladly handle the case for you. Doesn’t do much good if the company or client lives outside California, but if they do, it shakes ’em up nicely to have a letter sent them by the District Attorney asking them to show up for their court date.
For Californians, it’s like Small Claims Court on steroids.

Just as I said in my own responce, the return rate is based on how well you have targeted your pitch — the more generic, the less effective it will be in drawing any responce. The fact that you gave a special offer with an expiration date also spurred sales when you were pitching office supplies.
The trouble comes in when people pitch their post production services, for example, they throw a “big net” (a general pitch) over a large audience. It actually works better in reverse: choose a smaller, more focused target and hone your pitch to a razor’s edge; such as preparing commercials of a holiday theme. Now is a good time to begin pitching companies in your area who may want to prepare commercials for the upcoming holiday sales season. Set a date in which your “Holiday Special” expires.
On the other hand, just sending out postcards introducing your post production studio will get the phone ringing, alright — with little old ladies wanting to know how much you’d charge them to make a copy of the DVD they rented from the video store last night.

Yes, that is true — they will not hold up in court.
IF a thing is illegal, no one can sign a document that relieves another of culpability should the case be brought to court. All the parties involved in the infraction are culpable.
While I am no attorney, that is what I have been told by attorneys in the past.
In fact, as has been pointed out here over the years, in some cases the “hold harmless document” has actually been used as proof that you knew what you were doing was against the law.
But there is a LOT of latitude when dealing with political figures. They place themselves in the public eye and do so willingly. It’s why those totally unflattering pictures of politicians, celebrities, etc., abound and proliferate. It’s the photographer/videographer/publisher, etc., that holds the copyright — the celebrity almost never does.
But again, I am no lawyer and so each case is unique and you may wish to consult an attorney for those cases where you are unsure.

No. But MOST times it *is* fairly priced to the market niche that the product is actually targeted to serve.
But in no case do we encourage people to say things to manufacturers present in the Cow such as your pricing is going “to bite you guys in the ass” and such things.
You do not like the perceived insult and so why dish them out to others???
We like having our manufacturers reps presnt here in the Cow, they contribute a lot to the forums. We do not wish to have people chasing them off by brandishing insults and such…
*That* is my point.
You are entitled to your opinions about price, features, etc. But we do not allow opinions to cross the line into insults. We have never allowed this and have no intention to start now.
