If typos bug you in a magazine that is largely put together by one person, then I might recommend that you unsubscribe. This, as I doubt that I’ll ever get all the typos eradicated due to the fact that when you are pushing yourself to the point of exhaustion, you just don’t see some things that proof readers, etc., might catch.

The magazine is set to be quarterly in 2006 and in 2007 we will take it bi-monthly.

The search engine works just fine. You are probably adding illegal characters to the search parameters.
Searches are BEST done using as LITTLE information as possible, NOT trying to add as precise and wordy a description as possible.
In other words: Go to the advanced search function and go to the green “advanced search” area.
Put the word LUMA in the “search term” field.
Put nothing in the “search author” field.
Leave it set for “forums”.
Leave it set for “no” in “show message text”.
Set the forum selected to “Adobe After Effects”
Set the date range to search “all active posts”.
Hit the search button.
Voila. There are 183 posts in this forum in just the active posts; there are far more in the archives.

Yes, I agree with you Serge about wanting to sponsor “ambitious” students but to be quite frank, from re-reading Jack’s posts, I’d not read him as being ambitious. In fact, the impression that I got is that there’s little passion behind what he says — a lot of common sense but little passion. More the makings of an accountant than an artist. An artist has to have what they need for their craft — it’s a burn and passion and they can’t let it go. Commonsense is little the domain of the artist.
Not to be negative but setting your goal to first pay off all your student loans before you get any of the tools that you will need to pursue a career in the arts, is a sure-fire sign that you won’t be in the arts long and will be one of those students whose degree has little to do with what they end up doing in their workaday lives…

subtitles”Yes, in the “Making of…” section, we get to see the guys fumbling with their cups of coffee in overly-caffeinated hands with bags under their eyes and along side them, a jar of peanut butter with spoon for nourishment.
It takes a lot of audio filtering to remove the sound of the tongue sticking to the roof of the mouth as they speak but these guys are dedicated — dedicated, indeed.

Yes, Del, we were quite delighted with the Cow booth’s location this year. Kitty-corner to Apple, just across from Autodesk. It was quite cool. ;o)
Next year, they have us slated to be in a 10×20 right next to AVID in the very front of the hall.
This year’s show was quite amazing with the International Cinematographers Guild Local 600 (Los Angeles) chapter coming by the booth and picking up a case of the magazines to give to their members, saying that the issue’s stories on the new Sony F350 and the Panasonic HVX200 were the best they’ve seen.
The Apple team sent over a film crew to interview us for their internal channel and that was an honor. They really like the Cow and wanted to make sure that their people are aware of us.
David Krall, Avid’s president, stopped by and said hello. That was nice as we have only recently begun to have anything to do with Avid, a situation that our longtime friendship with Avid’s Tim Wilson is helping make happen.
There were many other stories like this and we felt that this year’s show was the best-ever in our years of attending NAB.

You settings are probably set to “Delete at Box/Server” anything that you do not have set as approved in your settings.
I just made a third attempt to send you the link and if that doesn’t work, I do not know what to do as we will not post the address publicly — as then no one would sign up and it would defeat our efforts to build a magazine because advertisers are only interested in one thing, numbers.

Hi All,
I feel the need to jump in here and speak for both Kathlyn and myself on this matter.
Kathlyn and I have known David Roth Weiss for years. He is one of the funniest people we have ever met. His sense of humour is one of the most developed we have ever been exposed to and we love being around him because of it.
I know for a fact that David has great respect for anyone with intelligence and that he would be the first person to admit that the reason that Indian companies have succeeded in gaining the contracts that they have is due to their intelligence, ability and determination in going after the business. The fact that it is done using an advantage of pricing it commensurate with a lower cost of living is why companies like Microsoft jump to it. But if the ability wasn’t there, it wouldn’t happen.
Still, the real issue that David was making fun of, from the user’s point of view, is that there is often a language/cultural barrier to be overcome when a stressed out user with a problem begins to try to express what’s happening half a world away on their computer.
You see this language barrier everyday here in the Cow. People try to help others and the language gets in the way. Sometimes, it is very comical to see how it all plays out.
When we first read David’s words, knowing him, both Kathlyn and I almost lost it laughing. At Indians? No. At humanity trying to overcome language and culture under stress. The picture was too funny to ignore and knowing David quite well, we know exactly what he was referring to…
We have people here at the Cow that make video tutorials and have not wanted to originally do so as they were quite concerned that their accent would keep users from understanding them, especially when English is their second language.
If we can never learn to laugh at ourselves and what it means to be human, we are in some really deep doo-doo kids.
