IMHO, if you buy Scenarist you can get teaching in Sonic
I can get you book “Quick and easy: Scenarist pro”, but it in russian language 🙂

Bill, IMHO today is NOT NEED to use hardware encoders.

Today available CCE and proCoder.
CCE can encode 4:3 or 16:9, multipass VBR, use anu source (avi, mov) and Adobe Premiere integration, plus work it with Frameservers. And it’s price much lower than Optibase 🙂

To play MPEG2 HD files in your Toshiba you can try to create HD-DVD disk image by Ulead software, and burn to DVD disk.

No. DVD stanrart – PAL or NTSC at 720(352)x576x25 or 720(352)x480x29.97
Today players can play Windows Media or DivX, or other, but its not by standart
If you want to display your video you can:
1. convert it to NTSC video (23.98 with 3:2 pulldown) and author DVD-Video disk
or
2. use players with wi-fi/lan to display your video on plasma/LCD tv’s by DVI

if you want to convert your video to MPEG2 you must encode your 1280x720x23.98 to
720x480x23.98 with pulldown. I’m using PC/Win instead MAC/FCP/Compressor, but i mean than compressor or DVDStudio can create MPEG2 23.98 with pulldown.

IMHO encoding at (9800 minus sound) multipass_VBR with software encoder like CinemacraftEncoder at IBP 12/3 will be look fine.

if you want to play your DVD on ALL possible players you MUST set book-type to DVD-ROM for maximum compability with old players

DVD architect not support 352@576 – why? i don’t know 🙂
You need Sonic Scenarist/DVDLab/DVDMaestro

Or if you not need menu features you can use IfoEdit (free)
