24p on DVD?
Is it possible to put a 24p product onto a DVD? I have a 1280 by 720 HDTV source running at 23.98 fps. I want to compress this first to uncompressed 10 bit, and then MPEG-2 while keeping the frame rate, if it can even be played on a television from a DVD. I am using FCP, Compressor and DVDSP to do the previous. Any help would be very appreciated.

You don’t say what editing system you’re on. To make it into a DVD it first has to be downconverted to 16:9 24p Standard Definition and then authored. But after that, yes it will look great. You cannot make a set top playable DVD with 10-bit uncompressed HD- yet.

No. DVD stanrart – PAL or NTSC at 720(352)x576x25 or 720(352)x480x29.97
Today players can play Windows Media or DivX, or other, but its not by standart
If you want to display your video you can:
1. convert it to NTSC video (23.98 with 3:2 pulldown) and author DVD-Video disk
or
2. use players with wi-fi/lan to display your video on plasma/LCD tv’s by DVIif you want to convert your video to MPEG2 you must encode your 1280x720x23.98 to
720x480x23.98 with pulldown. I’m using PC/Win instead MAC/FCP/Compressor, but i mean than compressor or DVDStudio can create MPEG2 23.98 with pulldown. -

720x480x23.98 with pulldown”This is incorrect. You can encode 23.976 Mpeg2 and the DVD player will add pulldown on the fly. Been doing it for years.
