  • how to author DVD without re-encoding existing vob file

i have a DVD that was produced by a stand alone DVD recorder. the material is about 3 hours long and appears to be encoded in fairly poor quality 352×576 mpeg2. i need to trimm bits off the end of the video and make a new menu and burn it back onto a DVD. when i try importing the vob file into DVD architect it informs me that i do not have enough space on the DVD – even though i set the project defaults to 352×576. it also sais it needs to re-encode the video. not sure why?

basically what i am asking is
    1. how do i trim a vob file without having to re-encode it
    2. how do i author a DVD using an existing vob file (at 352×576) without a. the need to re-encode and b. running out of space …

any help would be greatly appreciated.

if dvd architect cannot do what i want. is there softwate out there that does?

    A must have app:

    https://www.squared5.com/

Never used it with a 352×576 stream but give it it go!

Also, make sure DVD Architect supports this aspect ration (352×576) it’s supported by the DVD spec but rarely used.

    DVD architect not support 352@576 – why? i don’t know 🙂
    You need Sonic Scenarist/DVDLab/DVDMaestro

Or if you not need menu features you can use IfoEdit (free)
