It’s best to keep the frame rates the same to avoid headaches later on. I would recommend you install Filmic Pro on your iPhone. I gives you all the controls you would find on a pro camera and the ability to lock exposure, focus and white balance.

Jason, I don’t have the BM pocket cam but check your shutter speed. Not the frame rate, shutter. In my experience with any camera when shooting progressive, the shutter speed needs to be double that of the frame rate. i.e. 24fps @ 1/50th or higher. Each time you double the shutter speed you lose 1 stop of exposure but results in smooth footage.

Well, “image and wireframe” is just a positioning tool and for that purpose it doesn’t matter what the image looks like. Having said that, I’m not experiencing what you describe in either FCP6 or 7. If you wish to make adjustments to stills then choose the “Open in Editor” command which will hopefully take you to Photoshop to make your adjustments to images in Tiff or PNG format, and not Jpeg which is the devil in FCP. Also check that your images are no larger than 3000 pixels in any direction.
Having said all that, it matters not what you see on your computer screen, you need external video monitoring to be able to make informed decisions with regard to colour.

Perhaps your clients should dispense with the DVD player. All modern TV’s have a USB slot and will play MP4’s from a USB stick quite happily. The stick can have other files on it, but perhaps they are worried about security issues. Once into the USB menu on the TV choose the movie, or the first one in the queue, they will play one after the other. I would think it’s a better option than lugging a DVD player around when it’s not needed in this case. Try it yourself before you send it.

I would convert to an Mpeg 4 which will play on virtually anything that has a usb slot. MPEG Streamclip will do that for you for free.

It sounds as though FCP prefs have become corrupt. I suggest you download “Preference manager” from divergent media. Once installed run it then un-tick the checkboxes for everything except FPC7 then trash preferences and quit. Launch FCP then set up as you prefer. Use FCP for a while then if FCP is behaving itself, quit. Then go back into Preference manager and choose the Back up option. From there on, if and when things get a bit weird go to Prefs manager to trash then choose to restore your backed up working preferences.

A very comprehensive answer from Jimmy. The movie distributers resisted moving from film to digital distribution for many years, long enough to find a method which was proof against piracy. Without this, the latest blockbuster would be knocked out by backstreet duplicators the very next day. Safe to say, it can’t be done.
