Thank you John, the lines have disappeared. Will the fact that GPU is turned off have any detrimental effects?
I can work with it now but am still disappointed I can’t use the Bluefx library – one of the reasons for upgrading to pro 11 from 9. I just tried it and the whole computer crashed

Has anyone got to the solution to this issue? I would have expected it to be just a question of a setting? The issue I’m having on pro 9 appears to be very similar to previous posts above – when I’ve paused on the time line and then restart a black line is left where I had paused. When I stop further along the timeline the cursor goes back to my previous pause position. How can I stop the cursor going back. I’m unable to acurately trim and adjust the clips the way things are.

Thank you John. Why is Main Concept MPEG 2 recommended if AVC is just as good and can store more on a disc without losing quality? Would I be better off using AVC all the time? I have taken your advice and raised a new post to see what the general opinion is.

Project 2 Hrs 40 Mins. Architect 5 is telling me that the project is 125% of a 25GB blu ray disc. I’ve clicked on ‘fit to disc’ and tried reducing the quality to below 18 but it still says the project is too large.Would be grateful for any help please.

February 25, 2011 at 9:08 am in reply to: DVD Auhtoring error: Layer break not on cell boundaryIt’s kind of you Deidre to take so much time in replying to my query. I do have another issue with the same project. Tell me if I should raise another post but I will just briefly mention the problem here and you can tell me where to go if you wish! The entire project is actually 2HRs and 40 MINS and so the DVD I was talking about was just part of the programme. The ‘compressed’ single layer DVD works fine. I’m now trying to make a 25GB Blu Ray disc of the 2HR 40 MIN programme. Architect is telling me it’s too large and would take 125% of my disc. I’ve selected ‘fit to disc’ and it still says too large. I’ve changed the quality setting down to less than 18 and it still says too large – What else can I try please?

Thank you for your comments Deirdre. I have started down the single layer path and it is processing at the moment. My Sony HXD970 DVD player/recorder is only 3 years old and I have previously played home made dual layer discs without problem but they were made with different software on a different computer. On my previous system it was not necessary for me to put in a chapter point to change layer and my menus made in Ulead were not affected. It seems that Architect is rather ‘backwards’ by comparison? Not being too bright I find it challenging enough to do just the basics. Yes it did work on a Blu ray player but I wont hear anything against the Sony as it’s always played my home made discs, dual layer included, without problem. Best wishes, and I look forward to your help again in the future – Roger

February 23, 2011 at 9:40 am in reply to: DVD Auhtoring error: Layer break not on cell boundaryHello Stephen
My problem is a little different but as you seem to know your stuff I’d be grateful for your help please.Programme 1HR 40 MINS long HD produced in Vegas Pro 9. Made 14 chapter points and Rendered for Architect. In Architect I made a 2 page menu and then inserted a dual layer DVD. It processed and compressed for over 6 hours and then it asked for a marker to change layer. Within architect I inserted the additional marker at the point asked and then continued with making the disc. On completion the DVD player cannot play anything after the layer marker point. What do I need to do differently please?Roger
