IMPORTANT: When you use the Convert To Bezier Path command to convert a parametric shape path to a Bezier shape path, the Bezier path that is created does not animate well (i.e., interpolation between paths behaves strangely and unpredictably). This is related to path direction and how transformations are stored. For now, you should not use these converted paths for animated paths (interpolation between paths); but, if you do want to try, you may be able to work around the issues by reversing the path before conversion.

workaround:
After you convert the rectangle to a bezier path select the pen tool, hold down the Ctrl/Cmnd tool to change from the add point to the direct selection tool, drag the selection over the upper left bezier point, right click and choose Mask and Shape Path > Set First Vertex.

it’s complex. it’s burned on a moving image and there is also camera movement. in order to remove it you would have to create a clean background and attach it to the existing seamlessly. it involves tracking, rotoscoping and other compositing techniques. this will take an experienced Ae Artist a few hours or more.

Thanks Walter that’s helped. how about this:

time remapping to native properties in Ae is infinitely smooth because keyframes are not locked to frames or frame rate. when you manipulate time for a precomp with only native properties you can get smooth results every time.

time remapping to footage is limited because the data is locked to the frames and frame rate. when you manipulate time you can only get smooth results if creating new frames works perfectly (the frame blending option of pixel motion) otherwise it will duplicate or remove frames and the movement will not be smooth.

sometimes you have both footage and Native layers with animated properites and in the same timeremapped precomp, and in this case you should try 2 options:
1. set you footage to pixel motion and see if it’s stretches smoothly with according to native properties of layers
2. set the smoothness of both to off by checking the “preserve frame rate when nested” checkbox in the nested precomp’s composition settings.

o.k I have seen the footage. I am guessing this is a footage you don’t want to spend hours in compositing to try to fix it (pretty complex), but just show edit this to show friends and family right? I can see the finger is only a small part of the footage so you could just edit it out and use dissolve between the cuts. it will be just fine. if you want it in one take you can crop the footage.

BTW you can drag and drop files in the text field did you know that? 🙂

Alonzo don’t mind grumpy Dave 🙂 accidents happen, and we can try to make with what we have. can we see what we have? show a few seconds or more of this footage and we can see if there’s some fix we can offer you. probably cropping the footage would be the best you can do because I imagine it’s shaky.

If you are going to playback this video then Animation codec probably is a poor choice anyway. You should ask for specific delivery format. If it’s for playback it’s probably H.264. See here for more information: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/basics-rendering-exporting.html
