September 30, 2016 at 7:44 pm in reply to: Illustrator Strokes get converted to Filled shapes in AE?Yep. if you have anything but constant width and basic brush, it’s going to be convert to fill.

this doesn’t mean you need to compromise your creative vision. you can still draw a path in the middle of your illustrator fill and use this as a base for a reveal either by stroke effect or even trim path via Alpha Matte.Roei Tzoref

[Aaron Good] ” I want to add a pattern to the shape and have it repeated as well. Is there a way to do this in AE, or do I have to use illustrator to create a shape with the pattern, bring it in, and then repeat it?
“if it’s vector based, you can create it with shapes. illustrator will have more specific tools, but if you are already in AE and the pattern is not too complicated, just create it within the Shape group and add repeater underneath. if you are having specific problems please provide a screenshot. you can drag and drop it here or copy paste.

Interesting. If you want you can drag and drop a simplified project. I could take a look and quite curious why this happened.

check your composition settings and see you are working in square pixels. it’s is recommended to work within the presets so choose an HDTV preset and everything will be set for you.

[Ziyaddin Goyushov] ” i just need to make the animation and then i send it to the guy who will combine it with the video in the premiere.
“I see. I was not aware this video is going to have more processing. in this case a lossless version is warranted. you can use the PNG Codec instead of animation. it is my preferable delivery codec most of the time because I send short length clips via web. if you only have 10 seconds, I would use this one.

[Frank Feijen] “Wouldn’t putting the shape-stroke after the shape-transform (below) help?
“you can’t in the same group but you can create a group from the path, and then it can work.

Sure thing buddy. when you parent each layer to the previous and move all their transformations, you get a cool effect where there is an offset relationship. lose the tracking. just position to simulate the tracking. here is the project file:
