November 6, 2017 at 1:13 pm in reply to: How can i track this object with Mocha Pro perfectly ?

    1. create on track layer for the paper, use these settings:

    2. as the hand become close, add another track layer for the hand. it will default as a track matte because it’s above the 1st track layer

    3. when you are done, correct your track using the adjust track module:

    here’s the mocha file:
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5wyUt17-tu2SlJkUHdoeHpNbWM/view?usp=drivesdk

you can refine it further if you want. there are great resources in the mocha page on vimeo so check it out.

November 6, 2017 at 12:52 pm in reply to: How to set accurately the Region of Interest

[Yaniv Cahoua] “is there a way to set accurately the region of interest by entering values for the position width and height ?”

as a pre-process? unfortunately No. you can see what they are but not enter them:

as a post-process, you can access it in the render settings but I find it useful for just using the render queue to render the crop area and see the measurements…

and as Dave says, if you want to change the composition dimensions, you should do this in the composition settings.

feel free to ask for this feature and make Ae better for all of us: https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

  • 1. use WS on your footage, choose reversible stabilization
    2. add a solid create your mask
    3. add and adjustement layer and copy paste the Ws effect, change to reverse stabilization

    recommendation#1:
to the adjustment layer add simple choker effect at -1.00 value to fill transparent border of 1 px.

    recommendation#2:
for order sake, instead of an adjustment layer, you might want to precompose the roto and the stabilized footage, call it “stabilized” and in the master comp copy paste the effect and reverse stabilization.

November 6, 2017 at 12:24 pm in reply to: copy markers from layer markers to comp markers

    Hi Dan and everyone.

returning to this thread after a while. 5 months after the initial post, Ae released the November update (Ae CC 2017 14.0) with extended scripting support to various things including Comp Markers.

so surely now there’s a way to copy layer markers to comp markers and retain the comment, right? if I may be so bold to ask you to revise the script. of course if you feel this is a tool worth publishing and getting paid for, i would buy that tool but no scripting tool available.

    Thank you.

you can use an expression to detect the rectangle width by the characters of text.

    here’s how it works:

it’s really hard to tell without seeing the projects. templates are good if you don’t need to change much. if you do – you need to get inside the belly of the beast and figure out the logic of the structure. are there shy layers? expressions? are you sure you made a unique copy of the precomp?

different project? or different composition? in Ae a precomp has a source. when you duplicate a precomp in the timeline, you are creating copies of the source in the timeline. if you want to make a unique copy, you would need to create a duplicate of the source too

    the method is this:
    1. duplicate the precomp in the timeline
    2. right click on the duplicated precomp you want to create a unique copy of and choose “reveal layer source in project”
    3. duplicate the precomp in the project window
    4. replace the duplicate in the project window with the duplicate in the timeline by highlighting both and hitting “Ctrl+Alt+/”

now you have a unique copy. you can change it and it won’t affect another precomp. it’s unique!

[Alex Udell] “It seems that this function is not parallel in AE (yet???)…”

you are correct. media browser in Ae is of little use currently.

October 26, 2017 at 10:36 pm in reply to: “Lock” Precomp?

[Walter Soyka] “Although people usually think of proxies as low-quality stand-ins for real footage, there’s no reason why you can’t use high-quality proxies. I prefer this to pre-rendering because it gives an easy switch in the project panel for turning a comp’s proxy on or off; just make sure you change your render settings Proxy Use to “Current Settings” for the speed boost during render.”

this is exactly what I do. with complex and heavy projects I use HQ proxies and render my project with them when I am done. and I also have current settings for all my renders.
