  • Just had the actual first demo of the camera 2 weeks actual hands on. It has a lot of the SD XDCam features. It is a good camera if your are looking for a news gathering HD format or low cost entry to HD. The chip size is 1/3 and sample rate is 4:2:0. Wouldn’t recommend for high end HD production stick with Sony’s higher end CineAlta or Panasonics Varicam which is very impressive also. Saw a lot of compression issues with the camera footage being displayed on one of Sonys HD LCD Monitors. Blacks were in question but that could have been the issue with the monitor I still haven’t seen a great LCD Monitor even though they keep saying they are getting better. If your looking for an affordable entry level HD it’s a seems to be a good choice. Hope this helps

  • Hey Joe,

We are looking to replace our Discreet’s also. The Adrenaline would be a good machine for promos. We are using AvidXPress Pro HD to cut the daily topicals it’s okay and seems to do well however it does have it’s limitations when it comes to uncompressed streams of video. I am pushing for the Symphony NITRIS for all the things I do when it comes to the high end model of Station Image. Don’t know what is going to happen. Avid had some demos in town in the fall and was pushing the HD on all, however the catch on Real-Time HD on Adrenaline isn’t actually real-time it drops the resolution quality and you must render to get full HD quality but it was impressive except for the “Real Time” language. Symphony rocked combined with Nitris power the only catch there was we were told they had secondary Color Correction but it wasn’t actually working they could just show us the interface at that time. I am assuming it now works with the official release. Good Luck on your search. Give me a call and we can talk.

Thanks we have been digging around in that section also. So far I haven’t heard any issues today but it’s not over yet and I think our engineer is going to personally get on the phone with Avid Support. Thanks again for all your help on this

We do have an external drive array that came with it which has the Avid Hot Swapable Drives. It also looks like we have internal SCSI drives also. I will check in more detail on this. It really bothers me that XP has questions marks by this device
I guess I can’t figure out why you wouldn’t have the driver installed for this controller. The LSI Controller is checking out okay in device manager. I am now being told the Adaptec 2 Channel contoller is okay not to worry about it. It’s an Avid issue and everything should be fine but we are still having crashes???? As long as I have been around computers I have always thought all devices in your system should properly installed with correct drivers and ect. I can’t even find anything on Avids sight about this particular controller. Thanks for you insight on this issue.
