The mask is only used to generate the stroke that comp camera sees. The mask itself does not get deformed in 3D space only the stroke that’s applied to it. It’s working the way it is supposed to.

not sure, but I think you’re out of luck.

try turning down the phong angle to 30 or something like that.

Tou sure you don’t have the force bold button clicked on the bottom of the Character pallet?

Hi Adam,
I have a question.
I have uploaded my project here…
files.me.com/mr27/srl5bm
which should have the UV Mesh Layer texture, which I generated based on the instructions you gave. I also included a PDF of what I expected to get from the Create UV Mesh Layer command.
The way I was thinking about it, I thought that C4D would export a shape within a square which when filled with the appropriately deformed artwork of the yogurt label, would deform perfectly on the yogurt container. I am confused by the aspect of the Mesh Layer generated. Also I’m not sure I understand why you are allowed to dictate individually the height and width of your Mesh layer since it should have a fixed aspect based on the aspect of the polygon selection.
I have saved a polygon selection which the yogurt label would go on.
By the way this isn’t the yogurt container. It’s just quick shape generated for the purposes of understanding this technique.
Thanks very much for you input.

Thanks so much Michael, really!
Just to flesh out my particular situation for anyone else who may try to follow along here. I had to twirl down each object in the shape layer, showing Ellipse Path, Stroke 1, Fill 1, Transform. Then I command selected the Stroke 1 parameter(not really a parameter as it only has an eyeball) for each object in the shape layer. Then I was able to paste the expression in. And by the way it’s just “paste”. There’s no “Paste Expression” corollary to “Copy Expression”
Awesome.

Thank you Dave,
I’m doing just that now. Pick whipping. I was trying to avoid doing it 216 times. They are all circles. The AD’s want to see want to see what they would look unstroked. I should have anticipated this. Live and learn.
Anyone else have any suggestions how to link this parameter en masse?

Hi Dave,
The NTSC D1 Square Pixel comp size in AE CS4 is 720×534 revised from 720×540 Square pixel. Supposedly it’s more accurate or something. I read about it a while ago but can’t remember specifics. When I work in SD, I work in NTSC D1 Square Pixel because you can nest this comp, and please correct me if I’m wrong, in a NTSC D1 or NTSC DV. And I like to work in square pixels because it makes everything easier.
Your suggestion for what to do is exactly what I did. Dropping the 1080p comp into the SD comp as I have stated, and scaling to 49.5 percent, scales the 1080p layer to fit perfectly in the vertical aspect in the SD comp. All my graphics were kosher in there. I am going to consider your response as an “Affirmative” to my inquiry, if you’re cool with that.
Thanks,
Robyn
