CluStore looks great, think this may be what I am after.
At the moment we’re not experiencing any issues with bandwidth – which from your great description would suggest that at this time the ‘full on SAN’ is maybe not for me…yet.Bob, yes our server is a mac pro with 2 fibrechannel cards.
Would I need the multiport ethernet card, if I was just to use Clustore? would this just help with bandwidth? Thanks to you all for your assistance, such a blessing to have people to help me understand!

Hi Nate,
Thanks for getting back to me and for you help.
It seems like a fair bit of extra hardware/software… money.
Currently my RAIDs just run via fibre-channel into my server and then the rest of the network is gigabit ethernet. So I’m hopeful I may not need 1 and 2 from your list? In this case I would just need SAN management software? If I was to use MetaSAN or MetaLAN would I also be needing to buy the client software for each mac?thanks again

Thanks Mark and Stephen for your super-quick replies
I am using motion 4 and have now found the generator- going to be much quicker!! Especially as it turns out one of the dates goes from 1800 – 2010. Would have been a long evening, and particularly frustrating had I seen your responses tomorrow 😛
Thanks
Rob
p.s. Mark have just finished watching your Mastering Motion’s Camera Series and massively enjoyed them!- Have been flying through this project (Literally.) Seems I got stuck on the easy bit.

a couple of ideas.
1. Check that you are not using a cluster with compressor as if the cluster can’t find ‘specified’ machines this can cause this issue.
2. If within compressor preferences you select ‘auto launch batch monitor’ then try submitting. (It will be clear if you are submitting to a cluster) and potentially maybe you can find out a bit more information on the issue.
Hope this may help?

Ope up your multi-clip in the viewer. At the top of the viewer window there is a small button that looks similar to this |x|
Within the drop down menu will be the options
Video + Audio
Video
AudioSelect the ‘Video’ option and your audio will now not change when you make a cut.
Hope this helps

If you get the original R3D files and input them into Red Rushes (free to download from red website) you can export as prores (or prores proxy) from there, as long as you keep the file names the same you should just be able to reconnect to ProRes.

thanks for the reply. Thought that could be problem have been doing some experimenting and will work if I only have 7 clips but it will freeze up on 8. So guess I will just do what I can with 7 angles and then look through the 8th angle afterwards.
thanks again

Don’t think these files are reference files. They are in the capture scratch (that’s where I looked in the finder) and the file sizes total to around 300GB. Thanks anyway for the suggestion.
