I’m having the same problem with the same setup.|
As far as I can tell, you can only remote view via iLink (Firewire).
I can control and capture via OnLocation and Premiere Pro CS5, but this won’t work over SDI. As soon as you enable iLink on the EX-3, it kills the SDI. (Also SDI carries no deck control, so you need to use the RS422 interface – total pain in the butt.)

As for Lensfeed, I can’t get it to go. I did have it working via iLink on a Sony Z1, but so far, not a thing on the EX3.

If anybody knows more, I would love to hear because Lensfeed is a Godsend for green screen work.

I am having the same problem. I did it a couple of weeks back and it all worked, but now I try again and I have just one single layer with no cuts. It doesn’t matter whether I import directly into the AE project or use Dynamic link. This is not pilot error, I am certain there is a bug of sorts going on here.

Premiere Pro unfortunately doesn’t have network rendering.
However, After Effects does. If you have the Production or Master collection that includes Dynamic link, you can import the Premiere project directly into AE, and render out to a pool. I have found it best to render as a TIFF image sequence, and then add the soundtrack back in once the sequence is complete for final transcoding.

I agree. I am using TIFF plates and getting the same problem. Fiddling with the decontamination settings can sometimes help.

  • Hi Edward,
Well, In one of your other tips you suggest to double up the size of the floor solid to eliminate the “jaggie” resolution problem, so if I reduce it, it will look rubbish.
I am caught between a rock and a hard place. In the end I rendered out a single animated background “studio set” and used it as a backdrop for all the other stuff. It did mean that not everything in the scene was reflected, so I had to resort to the old “flipped instance” trick, but it got me to hit my deadline. Needs must as the devil drives, as they say.

That said, I seriously suggest somebody should reassess that plugin and get it to work more efficiently; It’s a pretty unique and useful plugin, but in it’s current state I wouldn’t recommend it to any professional motion graphics designer.

    Regards,
    Rob

  • Well I am finding the same with Reflector, and I am also using Invigorator. Had I known this stuff was so slow I would never have used it, but I am two weeks into a three week project and I have a deadline of next week. I have faked the reflective floor for now, but the Invigorator, I really don’t know what to do.
