Hi John, thank you for continuing to try and help me. I took your advice and downloaded MediaInfo, to compare my two files. Here is a screen shot, though I can’t figure which view you want, to see what you call “The Profile”? There are slight differences in each file’s Properties. I guess the only question is how to match the settings? I guess perhaps, like you said, this is not a render setting Vegas is capable of?

Hi John, thanks for your input. You are always so helpful on this Forum. Your answer seems logical enough to me, first I should find out if the Camcorder was designed to do this. To me it seems that it should be, given that I can put it’s own footage back on to it. But I’ll contact Sony and see if it can with edited footage. Personally I think the problem lies with Sony AVC export settings, because when I choose 25,999,360 Bit rate in the settings, then check the Properties of the rendered footage it’s Bit rate is 15,596,000 kbps. So it’s not rendering at the setting I’ve chosen. I’ll upload another screenshot to show you. Are you saying you can’t send edited footage back to your camera? Or is it something you’ve never tried?

John, thanks for chiming in….always excellent advice from you. I’m on XP Pro SP3 so I’m not sure if that supports .mp4 or not? I’ll try to find a codex that will make it work. Research is required. It’s probably going to be impossible to track down what precise version of QT Vegas 10.0a (387) wants, looks like I’m forced into the never-ending updating scheme of modern Developers. God, how I HATE that!! Just give me on solid working piece of software that I can work with for the rest of my life……is that too much to ask?? Of course it is!! I skipped the whole Vegas 11 updates, because of the horror stories I read here, and just avoided Vegas 12 because 10 was rock solid for me. Last thing I needed are things falling apart in the middle of a session. Anyways, enough ranting from me. I’ll try to sort out my issues, with all the advice from you kind Gentlemen. Who would have thought it would be such a struggle to deliver Product to Mac users?

First of all thanks Tyson, for taking the time to respond….appreciated! I’m using Vegas 10.0a (build 387) 32-bit and Quicktime 7.7.5 on an XP Pro SP3 system. I am rendering the file to a physical hard drive G: Vegas was asking for QT 7.1.6 before I installed QT, maybe I have to try and find that exact version? I’ll let you know if that resolves the issue. I have never had any problems rendering out to any other format I’ve tried in the past. Maybe I need QT Pro? As this QT seems to just be the Player……any thoughts?

Hi Mike, thanks for the response. That’s really odd…….then how is it the video frames below it are off that grid? That’s what I can’t understand. It’s a Bezier mask I used for a Special FX, so both the top and bottom clips have to line up. So if I’m able to extend the front of the clip backwards, and the end of the clip forward, how will I be able to splice it in the proper places. Doesn’t splicing follow the same rules…….i.e. on a frame??

Ok, guys thanks for the input. It seems the consensus is to stay with Vegas 10, ok then that’s what I’ll do. I’m really in no rush, I was just hoping it was ready to go………guess not.
Ya, Steve I’m on 10 c too………rock solid over here!! That’s exactly what I need in my apps., things that just work! You know what I mean. Anyways, I’ll hold off for now and check in down the road, perhaps when Vegas 12 comes out. Thanks again to everyone who offered a comment.
