Yes and no. I can see it may be a little more intuitive, yes. But then you’d be turning them off constantly to speed things up, since you don’t always want or need them, just a little “rim” or the likes where shadows really mess things up. But then, that could also just be me. 🙂 But I’m glad I could point you in the right direction.

You need to turn shadow casting on for THE LIGHT also.

I agree, Jeremy. I recently had 50+ projects to export and used this, but it’s anything but a replacement for real batching. Oh well, it’s sure to come and it’s an ok “hack” for smaller tasks I ‘spose. 😉 It’s the thought that counts. 😀

Meaning your material didn’t (for what ever reason) finish copying from whatever medium/camera/card it came from.

Erm… so you don’t have any TimeMachine or any other type of backup of ALL of your data?! If not, then I’d say that’s a far more urgent matter to worry about than just a few templates.

More precisely, they’re all in your user’s Movies folder in the “Motion Templates” folder. Back that up and it’s all there. But yes, I’m pretty sure that just about every vendor will allow you to reload anything you have proof of purchase of.

And you don’t even have so much as a Time Machine backup… well…
But try checking the “Purchases” tab in the Mac App Store app. Any and everything you ever purchased in the MAS (with whatever ID you’re currently logged in with) will be listed there. Then simply try deleting something from that list and see why happens to the button behind it…

It has MUCH improved with the most recent versions. And no, it’s not perfect. But FCPXML is a work in progress. It’s also a far superior exchange format, even if it doesn’t seem so right off the bat. Outdated formats such as EDL or AAF are (and will stay) incapable of e.g. retaining (as in: *editable*) color correction information from FCP to Resolve or any and all audio filters/effects that you apply in FCP to LPX, Both of which already work. For ME having that makes putting up with having to shift some tracks around in LPX for a bit longer quite tolerable. You may not. At least I know, as opposed to nonsense such as EDL, that things can, will and are improving over time. That’s what the feedback pages are for, too, btw.
