Really,I would think it would sell quite well, esp if the rental houses bought them,as they didnt with the 1/2 inch chip as none of their existing lenses would work well.
Its funny now Iam hearing people say that HDCAM is over kill for tv work, and there isnt enough band width etc.It was the BBC who a few years back declared that Digibeta was over kill, and no one could tell the difference between digi and DVCAM.(Could be accountants who need new contacts 🙂 Wouldnt a 2/3 inch multi format XDCAM not be perfect for tv only HD work?
I have nothing against RED,but I dont think its on the radar for alot of freelancers who will have to buy HD within a few years.Iam sure the camera is great, but what about all the world wide back up,engineers, parts, back up camera rentals. etc Dont want to push that boat out again 🙂 but I dont think there are a huge amount of people crying off buying an HD camera because they are waiting for RED.But I,ve been wrong before.. cant remember when though :0

So will they offer a PAL and NTSC version? … 25p/50i…. 29.97/60i ? sort of thing.
How come the current XDCAM is switchable?
Yes now is a nightmare for freelancers who need all the frame rates in a camera,!
Thanks

I was told here in japan that it wouldnt have all the variable frame rates 23.98/24/29.97 etc .. cant believe this would be true????… say it aint so..

July 10, 2007 at 10:33 am in reply to: Help. Anton Bauer Charger just died, does it have a fuseI had the same thinbg happen in China actually,on the last day of the shoot, took the cover off in complete desperation(dont know a thing about chargers) pushed all the plug cables in and the thing worked!
But yes I think the answer is to take two chargers, esp in somewhere like China, although you,d think the UK would have Bauer chargers!!.Or at least a separate AC power supply so you can shoot something.
I know for 16mm we would often take a use once only lithium battery, although you never really knew how much you would get out of them.
I have one 4 X charger for home,and 2 separate 2X for the road.Just in case. -
Dont be so confident about the Japanese tech,s.Plenty of horror stories, incredibly expensive,,and absolutely zero thinking outside the box.I wasnt ever told about digibeta software updates in Japan… because I didnt ask!!! It also took 4 hours and $800 for them to find out a gear in the motor had come loose. One guy came at the camera with this massive screw driver for no reason at all! I had to phyiscally get between him and my beloved camera.
I NEVER get my camera serviced here, and frankly wouldnt advise it,I know take it to Top Tec,s in the UK.Which has one of the worlds best camera tech,s John Shepherd. -
Ok thanks! see what you mean, thought you might have been referring to some amazing effect! Do you shoot in the straight HD mode,as oppossed to film like modes.Or what are your thoughts between the two.
Thanks

Thanks John,I was wondering if the surreal look mentioned was without shutter.

Forgot to ask,did you use the half shutter setting for the 60p to slo-mo?
