Many thanks for the link,I,ve signed up over there too.exactly what I was looking for,thanks.

The camera sounds great to me,and a good price too,and like the idea of the options,just pay for what you need.

The 1/2 inch does look good,but at the end of the day,for good or bad,for doco work for sure the production companies always want 2/3 inch camera,s.Maybe this is because the big guns like Discovery/Nat Geo etc make it a requirement I suspect.

But horses for courses as always.

Thanks for the info.Maybe they mean a true 24p,rather than 23.98p which would effect only the people wanting to make film dubs ?
But if they dont have 23.98p that would be really mad though!

Yes I wonder why delays as they already have the half inch camera up and running well for ages.Cant they just shove a bigger chip in with a blunt screw driver or the heel of a shoe?
Engineers building up the overtime is my guess.

Surely this camera is destined for world dominance for all things doco and corp?

Lack of SD I doubt is a problem for most buyers,as the whole idea is to upgarde to HD.I think more important is that it will be able to shoot all the P,s 23.98/29.98/25 will do fine.Even if this is an extra software option.

Its even more weird,the east part of Japan is 50hz,but the west is 60hz.So Tokyo is 50hz but Osaka and Kyoto are 60hz.So you have to watch for flicker from flories if you are changing cities for example.But tv screens are all NTSC,even in the 50hz area,s.

Also Japan is 100V(dont bother bringing 2k,s !), but your 110V bulbs will be fine.Never heard of anyones chargers blowing up,mine has been fine will al sorts of voltages around the world,as they should be.

You can get away with a proper printed out gear list,but you may have more trouble getting your gear back to the US,than getting into Japan,without a carnet.

Back on Earth,production managers will be falling off their chairs at the prospect of paying hotels,airfares,meals and wages ,for someone to down load cards.Remember how fast camera assistants disappeared as soon as no mags to load!

There is no way around the fact that the price of P2 cards,at the moment,is a major draw back for freelancers to buy the camera,s and long shoots or anyshoot where the camera will be turning over alot each day.

Maybe we could fedex the cards back to those sitting in cosy offices,and they could down load them after work.. and send them back out…haha!

I think he,s just making the very valid point that P2,at current prices, is just a non starter for freelancers shooting doco,s.UNLESS you go back to the film days of having an assistant along,to reload as it were, the cards.
Which would be great.. except the bean counters wont be happy,as they got rid of them as soon as video came along in the first place.
