Do you have the camera with you.. or down load a manual.. see if there is any where in the menu to change from NTSC to PAL..
UK is 50Hz so PAL wont give you any flicker at 25p… any decent pro monitor should be NTSC/PAL.. if not I,d buy a better monitor or just rent one..
UK is also 240V so if you bring lights with 110V bulbs they will blow up.. ! bring some 240V ones -

February 28, 2013 at 11:26 pm in reply to: Need Information: Proper setting of EX-3 Viewfinder controlsPersonally I dont use zebra,s .. I dont like them in the VF.. but of course for those who do Im sure it works fine. But only as a guide .. then make your own judgment .. dont be ruled by read outs.. often you have to pull stop within a shot.. something looks better silhouette or blown out..
But TBH I,d never advise anyone to shoot auto iris.. even a total beginner .. -

I would question.. dont use your viewfinder to set aperture.. its the main thing I would use.. editors or studio guys might not see it that way ..
Set the brightness as in the video on the bars in your VF.. so you can just see the right hand bar of those 3 bottom right.. contrast I set by eye.. usually around the middle.. as long as its not way off either way is fine.. never use auto iris to shoot with.. as you know Im sure..
Is it a new camera for you.. I think basically you get used to your own camera,s VF.. and what looks right .. another reason rental is a pain.. clapped out or un known VF,s..This is in doc or in your case news mode.. studio /drama different ..

Ok great thanks.. Im pretty sure you already told me.. but its safe to just up date UDF driver over the old one isnt it.. or better to take it out of extensions first anyway..
Thanks again

February 23, 2013 at 7:40 am in reply to: 2/3″ camera operators – has anyone stopped using typical viewfinders?Ive used the Zacuto one.. but they all seem to get wobbly during the day or get knocked a bit.. and its really off putting when they arent exactly horizontal.. and they need batteries.. basically a pain..
For my money, and if you are used to working with a VF “built in” I,d buy the F5 or 55..

Hi Ian
Sorry didnt mean the tone of my original post to be a criticism at all.And you have personally helped me and alot of others on this forum..
Actually Im surprised that you guys are even in charge of having to do it.. I thought there would be someone /another dept. who would be in charge of up dating the software sites..!!!
Im not using the device driver anymore as new computer doesnt have exp card slot.. got the USB3 card reader but still need the UDF driver ..
I can just update over the previous UDF driver, rather than having to take out the old one.cant I.. ?Thanks again
