    Hi,
There is an issue with Windows and 1394b – firewire 800. Go to this link for the full details:
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/885222

Avid does not yet support firewire 800 last I checked.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
There are many choices for these. Here is a link that gives you information on a variety of DVD Recorders:
    https://hometheater.about.com/cs/toppicks/tp/aatpdvdrecorder.htm

The one i have does have a firewire input. You can also send composite, component and svhs. I found mine on sale at Best Buys. Not sure if you have one there in NY. You can shop online and see if they do. That is what I did before I went to the store.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
I use the Sony RDR-HX900. It has an onboard hardrive. You can play your timeline right into the hardrive and then burn as many dvd’s as you like. Mine has a 160gb drive so I can store a lot. It is a great quick solution to get something out on a DVD. It is pricey, but works great.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
You need to update your 3400 to the 67.22 driver. I have athlon and it works
    awesome.

What I did was install the new driver, it’s large, about 25mb. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled avid. It works like a champ. You will need that driver update though.

    Hope this helps.

So far i have found Xpress Pro to be very stable. When I did my research I had decided on going Avid. My friend however went to FC Pro. After about 1 year, he went in had to edit on an avid for 3 days, after that he switched to Avid.

While there is no doubt that FCPro can get a job done,Avid has in my opinion a much better work flow, media management and extensive tools that appear to have been designed with editors in mind. The whole key to using this on XP Pro is doing all the tweaks to the OS. Videoguys.com has a pretty good list to start with.

    hope this helps.
