“Please tell me you know that you must first back up the P2 card, THEN import.”

Just curious, but why (i don’t have a P2 camera yet)? Is there a chance you can lose the data on the card while you ingest?

Are you sure you’re fully rendered?

Are you looking at a broadcast monitor? Is that what you mean by “edges look little ragged on any monitor I look at?”

According to some, the FCP title generator should only be used as a place holder too.

  • oops. I guess I should have read the whole post. All I read was the “how to you rip a DVD” part.

MPEG Streamclip, as far as I know, won’t rip copyrighted material anyway. But I’ll delete my post anyway.

“Losing all bids to cheap kids. “

I’ve heard of this but we never talked about bidding while I was in school. Where does this bidding take place, or how does one bid for a project/client?

You mean so it stops detecting timecode breaks during “Capture Now?”

I wouldn’t say I WANT the iPad, but that’s because I’m saving up for some other things, like a Kona card.

However, I definitely see the potential in this. Personally, I’ve always wanted a little device that could simplify the organizational side of video production. The iPad along with iWork I think can do that. Sure, I suppose I could get a laptop, but then I’d be getting more than I need. Apple’s laptops cost more, are bigger, and heavier. I also already have a Mac Pro, so I just don’t need a whole other computer.

Also, watching videos on a iPod or iPhone…I always thought that was ridiculous. The screen is so tiny. How could that be enjoyable. At least this can display 720p. Not bad for the frequent traveller if you ask me.

” it’s pretty annoying to have to convert tons of footage before bringing it into FCP.”

It’s not that’ bad. Just bring all your clips into Compressor and convert a big batch…that is, if Compressor converts the footage the way you said it’s supposed to be converted.

You can make a settings preset in Compressor to drop on all your frames at once. It’s easy.

“Looks like it’s a great device to do exactly what it was intended to do. A media entertainment center. “

Exactly…I’m already tired of the “It’s not as good as a laptop” and “you can get a laptop for $500” comments. It’s not designed to compete with laptops. They already offer 3 models, what would they need another one for. This is an entirely new product.
