Using your virtual cluster will always result in a failure when you Send To Compressor from FCP. You will have to export and self contained or reference file from FCP and then bring that into Compressor if you want to sue your virtual cluster.

If you enabled the settings in the Frame Controls pane and decided you wanted to deinterlace your video, that would dramatically increase your encode time. Did you do that?

For Dashboard we are on 1.6.8 (we updated the other day because we were having problems again) and for our Drobo Pros we are on 1.1.5
I appreciate your offer to help, but my boss has already decided a few days ago that he’s going to look for a new solution. We’ve contacted tech support many times for many different problems (connecting via iSCSI has been the least of our problems), but the Drobos never seems to work any better.
What difference is it going to make if our case is reopened? What will tech support tell us that they haven’t told us already? We’ve been through all the troubleshooting that is listed in the manual, which always seems to be what your Tier 1 tech support wants to do. We’ve given many diagnostic reports to your Tier 2 tech support guys. I think I’ve even been in contact with someone who said he was on Tier 3.
We’re not mishandling our Drobos. We know to shut them down with Drobo Dashboard or by shutting down the computer.
On paper the Drobo sounds like a great solution, and I wish it worked, but in the real world it just doesn’t.
I’m not just trying to be a jerk by bashing on the Drobo Pro. Like I said, I appreciate your offer to help. I just don’t see how reopening our case will suddenly help us.

I know the music files aren’t like that. I haven’t listened to ALL of the them, but I’ve listened to many of them and even reused some of them. And besides, it sounds like crap. I don’t see why any music composer would pan audio like that.
I have already tried panning the channels to mono (both A1 and A2 to 0 instead of -1 and 1) and that just causes the audio to kinda fade out.

I have asked them, and the audio is not supposed to sound like that.
The audio also sounds the same in FCP, Soundtrack Pro, and Quicktime player.
I guess this will require re-editing. It’s so weird how these videos exported though. I’ve never seen this before. Some are even wonkier than the example I provided.

you could try:
Modify > Audio > Apply Normalization Gain. This will adjust the audio of your clip so that the loudest part does not exceed the value you set

We have a couple Drobos at my work. They are a nuisance.
First of all, they don’t consistently connect via iSCSI. We’ve contacted Drobo a few times about this and all they’re really said is, “yea, you could try buying another ethernet board.” So FW800 is the only connection that works consistently…most of the time.
Also, Drobos aren’t meant for editing. In fact, the discs slow down when they are filled to a certain capacity and get slower as you keep filling them. So even if you do get the iSCSI to work, you still may not achieve the speed you desire.
If you need performance, buy a RAID built for it. Drobos are made more for back up…at least that the impression I have.
