I was all set to go with the partitioned drives (as per David’s eloquent set-up) but after seeing Larry Jordan’s thread yesterday on this forum, I opted to go with the installation on same system (as he stated that there has been absolutely no problems).
After firing it up after installation, I couldn’t open parts of Final Cut Suite 3 (like compressor and dvd studio). I then found this link https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4722 and made some tweaks.
I’ve been running it for the past 24 hrs and have had no issues.
Couldn’t hurt to put it on a different drive though or partition – who knows down the road.

Hi Jerry – when you say (1) for each computer, would I be able to eventually download it multiple times onto one computer (different partitions running different os), and this would be included as the (1) on that particular computer.
Or would the (1) per computer be just that: one and done?
Thanks,
Rob

Hi Brent – just got a chance to check out reframe collection. Awesome! Thanks for the link.

Thanks for all your responses and help everyone! I guess I will just have to include these hefty price tags for music in production costs. It really does suck that the WEVA expo is completely virtual this year. I mean its awesome on one hand out of convenience, but was hoping to take the wife and kid for business/family vacation. I’m residing in Vancouver, Canada where it has rained almost everyday in the last 5 months (I digress).
This is a great forum and again thanks to everyone!

Very interesting this WEVA site. I think a business/family vacation is in the works for August in Orlando. Have you personally attended any of these WEVA expo’s yourself. If so, which specific sessions would you recommend for a newbie such as myself?
Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks Dave – yeah my ability to produce my own scores are very limited – play little guitar. I am a percussionist and can produce some beats (Garageband) but need the full meal sound.
Your right about many of the canned songs showing up in many of the videographers work. I’ll be sure to check out the sites you mention.

Great advice Brent. Thanks! Do you know of any material available anywhere (video, hard cover) that focuses on very specifically video camera technique for weddings.
I watch so much of people work in the industry and have a pretty good feel for when they’re using steadicams, tripods, sliders etc… but because I’m coming into this pretty green it would just be nice to have some reference material (cheap, if not free) to get a behind the scenes breakdown on cam technique.
Anyway, thanks a bunch and if you or anyone else has info. much appreciated.

Hey talking about fundamentals – does anyone know how my mug shot got up on this forum? Frightening notion taking advice from me on anything but incompetence (so Canadian of me I know – eh?)…

Thank you, thank you. Beautiful work by the way on your links Brent. Nice breakdown of your shooting plan.
If I may – how many hours of footage do you shoot on a typical wedding. I’ll be using (2) cams – the principle shooter xha1 and its b-roll coverage sidekick hv? (still haven’t bought yet). I’m sure it depends on what they pay for that decides how much you shoot – but just a ball park….
I’m not looking forward to shooting with tape (x’s 2), as costly and pain reloading….
Which leads me to another question: for my 2nd cam – should I seriously consider a canon with a hard drive or stick with the hv series? Probably a question for the canon forum…
Thanks…

Thanks Brent for sharing some of your shooting technique. On the topic of sliders: I’m looking to purchase one for cheap as possible (shoestring budget) – would this one by drylin garnish any response from yourself (or anyone else) https://www.amazon.com/DryLin%C2%AE-Linear-Motion-System-Sliders/dp/B003XECN2S/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top I know there is a diy factor involved with this particular model but has anyone had any experience both assembling and using this product?
Lastly, could you please elaborate on what you specifically shoot with your 3-4 steadicam/glidecam sequences? Would this be 360 around bride, the dance and coctail hour (for example)??
Is your slider mounted to your tripod when in use. Do you try and capture bride coming down aisle with slider.
Sorry for the barrage of questions, I am having a good read of “Wedding Videography: Start to Finish – by Joanna Silber for a rough base in starting my own business.
Thanks for all input…
