Awesome feedback Mark – thanks so much! Lots to chew on. I hear what your saying about not wanting to stand out on “the day” with steadicams, glidecams etc… Just so I get this right, do you then shoot with a fig rig throughout the wedding day (when not on sticks etc..)? Do you use a shoulder mount at all? What about sliders for when bride comes down the aisle?
In experimenting with different stabilizers, for some reason I felt the best with fig rig and can see it as the lightest most hassle free tool to use at a wedding. Am I misleading myself at all? Wouldn’t the fig rig (Bogen’s) stand out quite abit too though (big ‘ole steering wheel)?
Thanks again….

I’m gonna take your advice Todd. Good quality lenses and (batteries) are too important too go cheap as you say.
I love to find the bargain way of doing things but I totally see what your saying – just needed to hear it I guess.

April 27, 2011 at 10:42 pm in reply to: Best cheapest raid system solution for mac proThanks Jason – just hooked up a couple of 2tb drives (exact same ones) together raided at 0 and using my other 2tb (different drive) as backup. No problems to report and quite fast (for me anyway).
Thanks again for all feedback.

Thanks Jason – Yeah I just purchased a couple of these https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Hitachi/0S02861/ to go along with my 2tb apple stocked hard drive. Didn’t check before to make sure the cache was the same as these ones are 64mb. I think the apple’s may be 32mb come to think of it. Think I’ll have problems as you suggested?
Thanks again….

Awesome feedback! Thanks Todd. If you could help me out with one for dilemma. I know you don’t use the xh a1 but do you know of a wide angle attachment lens for this camera. I know canon sells .8x for approx. 350.00 but what about the cheaper ones? https://www.amazon.com/0-43X-Angle-Macro-CANON-XH-A1/dp/B002ULWT92 Any opinions??
Thanks again…

I’m gonna bug you one more time Alex (and thanks for the thumbs up on the mug shot), I’m looking at these 2 particular hard drives: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Hitachi/0S02861/ and https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Hitachi/0F12115/ …. Could I please ask you for you opinion as to which would be better? They seem the exact same drive but…??? I am going the cheaper route but if either of these drives are ok then I’m ok with it…..
PS – I don’t have any raid card etc.. on my 2010 mac pro 8 core. Will be using the utility software that it comes with to raid.

Thanks for your response Alex. Lastly, in a raid set up as I described with my number 2, 3 and 4 drive Raiding at 0, what role does my number 1 drive have in relationship to raiding 2-4 drives. Is it not included in the raid set up? Or must I include it but then it wouldn’t work out as that main 1st drive is only 1tb (when I want to go with 2tb for drive 3 and 4 – drive 2 is already 2tb).
Thanks….

Hi Jason. Couple questions about your set up. Actually I’ll just fill you in on what I’d like to do. Firstly, right now I have a 1tb drive (main drive for programs etc..), and I have for my 2nd drive a 2tb drive (both drives the stock Serial ATA’s). I would like to add (2) more 2tb hard drives (different brand from macsales.com) to fill all bays.
Questions: If I’m going to raid 0 my 2nd 3rd and 4th drives together, do they all need to have the same capacity (eg all need to be 1tb drives or all need to be 2tb drives)?
Next question: is it ok to mix with different hard drive brands together (eg https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Hitachi/0S02861/ with my stocked hard drives?
Thanks….
